This Up North Oasis is blocks from Lake Superior beaches and 10 miles from Bayfield or Ashland. Gather 'round the kitchen island, share meals in the large dining room, chill out in the spacious living room & handle business in the office space with WiFi. Outdoor front porch with rocking chairs and the fenced-in backyard has beach sand, firepit, and a propane grill on the deck. This house is ready for big groups & the joyful rumpus only dogs & kids can bring to the party. We love dogs! There are multiple dog beds for your beloved pooch to snooze and hang out with the gang. Move the dog beds around the house to make sure they're always a part of the fun. That being said, please know that we do our best to make the space clean for every guest and I ask you give us some grace if we missed a spot and you find dog hair around. The kitchen has most of the utensils, pots & pans, bowls, oven-safe 13x9 pan, and baking sheet you'd need to prepare food here. Because of our health department license, I can't leave out oil or anything like that. I have salt and pepper for you though! :) Our office space has an ink-jet printer with paper, basic office supplies, and fast WiFi. You can work from here and take meetings from the privacy of the bedrooms, all have a small desk. There's a working typewriter with a variety of correspondence goodies for you to use. Postcards, greeting cards made by local artists, and envelopes to send someone a typed letter. It'll make you smile! We're music lovers and we welcome you to use the record player or bluetooth speaker to bring music into the space. A corner sitting area with games is a nice place to play chess, a game of cribbage, a 12-in-1 game case with Monopoly, Scrabble, and more. This is a good place to zone out on your phone or enjoy a cocktail or cup of coffee while the rest of the house buzzes along in the periphery. The sun flows over the floor in the living room all day and our dogs love laying in the sun as the day goes by. The large dining room can accommodate eight chairs and is great for having a large meal together. Outside there's a fenced in yard and deck with a propane grill for you to use. A fire pit to hang around and a covered front porch with rocking chairs. No-contact check-in, we'll give you a personalized code to unlock the front door. Just lock the door behind you when you check-out. We live in the area and we're friendly with our awesome neighbors so they alert me if things get too rowdy. Please be respectful of noise levels, local laws have a quiet time starting at 10 pm. Be good neighbors! A few blocks from main street and a few more to the beaches of Lake Superior, you're a walk, bike, or quick drive to the grocery store, parks, trails, gas station, shops, thrift stores, banks, restaurants, and bars. This neighborhood is known for kids running around and playing in the streets, locals walking by with their dogs, and sometimes you'll hear live music at the venue on the corner. People are genuinely friendly and happy to spend a moment getting to know your story if you're up for a chat. Biking and walking is a local favorite because the area is nice and flat. It's an easy bike or walk to any of the amenities in the area. There's a sweet walking/biking trail that goes along the entire shore line of Washburn and it's all public access to the beach! There's a few beaches that are dog friendly, too. ATV and snowmobile access right in town to trails that take you all over the Bayfield peninsula and beyond. The B.A.R.T. bus (Bay Area Rural Transport) has pickups blocks away that will bring you to Bayfield, Red Cliff, and Ashland. There are so many beautiful places just miles away that you can access via vehicle, bike, or walking. Street Parking Notes: Just don't block driveways and mailboxes when street parking. Kind of common sense, but it's been happening enough that my neighbors have complained. :) WINTER NOV 1-APRIL 1: The City of Washburn has winter parking regulations if you're parking out front. Otherwise, we have three parking spots in the back. During Nov 1-April 1, you must park on the odd side of the street (that's us!) on odd dates and the even side on even dates. This is in effect 24 hours a day and begins at midnight. A grace period from 8:00 PM to midnight will be allowed for you to move your vehicle to the correct side prior to midnight. Citations will not be issued during the grace period, except during snow emergencies.
