Gracious 3-BR Garden Apt in Town
Gracious 3-BR Garden Apartment in the Heart of Hudson
Light, airy 3-bedroom apartment in an 1870s home in the middle of town. From this peaceful ground-floor oasis you can walk to it all: restaurants, wine bars, art, music, antiques, the train, and the banks of the Hudson. Wi-fi, Roku, full kitchen. Staying here is designed to feel like borrowing the immaculate home of a friend who has provided pretty much every little thing you could need or want to feel at home—including a sense of safety, which means that I am only accepting guests who are vaccinated and boosted at this time. My guests have also been very obliging about observing two COVID precautions: wearing masks in the common-space front and back hallways of the house, and storing their shoes upon entering on the rack in the hallway outside the apartment. Named for its Union Street location and domestic tranquility, A More Perfect Union is located exactly mid-town and provides a comfortable home base for jaunts around Hudson or farther afield. With all the necessities and niceties of home provided, including a fully equipped kitchen, you can make coffee or meals on your own schedule. There's also a barbecue on the patio in the yin-yang garden. This house was built shortly after the Civil War, and the public spaces — living room, dining room and kitchen — are spacious with high ceilings. The cozy bedrooms (one with a queen-size bed, and two with fulls, one with featherbed) are generously appointed with pillows, soft linens, blankets and cozy rugs, and all the beds are super comfortable. The kitchen is fully equipped, including a pantry with essentials like olive oil and balsamic vinegar, and the bathroom is stocked with toiletries including toothbrushes, shampoo, conditioner, Band-Aids, and a blow dryer... plus a clawfoot tub and enough white towels to make Leona Helmsley weep. The entire apartment is cozy, clean and restful. You might want to pick up some wine, order a couple of pizzas, throw a movie into the DVD player, and just relax. The whole experience is like borrowing a friend's home. The first floor is a private, 1,250-square-foot apartment unto itself entered from gracious Union Street, with a back door into an enclosed buddha garden with patio (to which both my apartments share access). The apartment, whose ideal location — smack-dab in the middle of Hudson — cannot be beat, shares only its entry and rear hallways with the upper stories of the house, and has its own thermostat and air conditioning. The neighborhood: Just around the corner from the tranquility of Union Street, the bustle of Hudson's main drag beckons. Warren Street is a burgeoning thoroughfare stretching from the rippling Hudson River to a fountain in the town square. In between you'll find an intriguing range of restaurants, cafes and hole-in-the-wall guerrilla eateries reminiscent of the West Village, art galleries, boulangeries, boutiques, antiques, and all things fashionable for home and humans. In 10 minutes, you can also lose yourself in rolling countryside framed by the Catskills. I am reachable by e-mail or phone from booking through your stay — and usually available in person while you're here. Please message me with information about the number of people in your party and the reason for your visit so I know how to best accommodate your needs. A More Perfect Union is smoke-free, and I'm sorry to say I cannot accept pets. In order to change linens and keep the place bright and shiny, a weekly cleaning fee will be added to all stays of longer than one week. We'll coordinate whatever time(s) works for you to have the place turned over every week. ••• PLEASE ALSO SEE MY SECOND-FLOOR APARTMENT, BLUE SKIES, WHICH SHARES ACCESS TO THE BUDDHA GARDEN WITH BARBECUE, AND IS ALSO LISTED HERE ON VRBO. •••
