Catholic Convent Cell - Room #9
Did you ever want to live like a nun? Well look no further! Please review the ample amenities list - the bedroom itself is rather humble, contrary to the overall shared space and amenities. Located 4.7 miles from downtown St. Louis and a few hundred feet from the closest bus stop. Catholic architects are amazing - you will immediately fall in love with the building's character if you're interested in architecture. This once served as a convent for nuns and was at one point housing for deaf priests to my understanding. Was also a catholic school and a few other things over the past 60 years. The bedrooms are quaint but high quality. And the open floorplan makes this large home feel much more connected and accessible. The neighbors all appear to be sane (one of them is a Catholic Cathedral). This isn't the most luxurious or even comfortable place to stay, but it is an experience that has a tad of character. My girlfriend and I host and are very down-to-earth. Guests will be able to access most parts of the 1st floor (kitchen, pantry, laundry room, living room, library, gym, patio), some areas on the 2nd floor (your bedroom, linen closet, board game closet, bathroom). Basement, garage and chapel are not permitted to guests. I'm easily reachable and very laid back. I'm not really trying to create new friendships or what not, but if we happen to get along (aka you're really nerdy), I find boardgames, video games, D&D, card games, etc entertaining. I also cookout regularly and guests are welcome to join. I don't actually know much about the tiny village of Madison. Since I've lived here, it has been locked down due to covid. I do know that the crime here is very low and my neighbors are quite friendly. I chose to live here because Downtown St. Louis has terrible crime and the "nice" areas in St. Louis cost California prices. Madison is only about 5 miles from where I work in Downtown St. Louis, which only takes me about 15 minutes to drive there. This region was negatively impacted a few years ago during all the civil unrest during the Ferguson / St. Louis riots. It wasn't hit like many places like East St. Louis, but it's obvious that Madison was at one point doing much better economically, as many businesses look vacant. Property is very close to public transportation (300 feet from closest bus stop). I have a large driveway/parking lot and there's also street parking available. Please note that this is similar to a classic hostel, dormitory or boarding house - where there are a few other bedrooms listed. I haven't had any issues yet, but also keep in mind the bathroom is shared - it locks but is similar to a dorm's bathroom.
