Black Birch Cottage - A Quiet Vermont Home
Quiet Vermont Home Near Everything
We are back and better than ever! Just finishing up some projects and now available for weekly bookings for 2022! Updated photos coming soon! Recent upgrades include new kitchen appliances, remodeled bathrooms, A/C and air purification. We are so excited to be able to welcome guests back to our cabin! Get in touch to book your next getaway! Our cabin is tucked away on a mountainside making you feel removed from the stresses of everyday life but centrally located and close to downtown, dining, hiking and scenic trails and roadways. Wake up to beautiful morning light streaming through windows and skylights. Get cozy around the woodstove after a day of adventuring. It's a quick drive to your favorite spots downtown and minutes from the farmers market and farm stands. The perfect get away that isn't too far away! Open, modern home with an ever changing collection of art and vintage touches. Comfortable, quiet and relaxing, a perfect writers/artists retreat, romantic getaway or family vacation. A well-appointed kitchen with modern appliances and double convection oven should provide you everything you need to prepare meals; including a kitchen aid mixer, food processor, high powered blender, espresso machine and variety of coffee makers (we take our coffee very seriously around here). We stock plenty of pots, pans, bakeware and tools. We use the house too and I love to cook! I try to keep local coffee and a selection of teas available for guests as well as pantry staples like oils, vinegars, soy, spices, etc. Always help yourself to anything that you find. There is a charcoal grill available when it's not covered by a foot of snow and charcoal and propane are provided (it's a propane start charcoal grill- the best of both worlds!) The dining room seats 6 comfortably (but we have extra chairs downstairs if you need to squeeze in a couple more). The living room is outfitted with a cozy overstuffed sectional sofa and soapstone woodstove. Wood is provided (if you leave us your newspapers we will be forever grateful, though!). We have a tv in the living room, but note that there is no cable. We have provided a media center with lots of movies and some tv shows. A roku allows you to log into your accounts or you can stream my youtube tv to catch the news/weather or game! There are board puzzles, board games books and even some arts/crafts supplies to keep you entertained if you choose to stay more unplugged. The downstairs bedroom has a queen size bed and adjoining full bath. Plenty of linens, pillows and extra blankets are available throughout the home. Upstairs in the loft you will find a futon couch and daybed on either end of the loft (these areas are open space). The second bedroom (private space) includes another queen size bed and adjoining full bath. During the warmer months, my favorite space is the large deck. We usually plant some herbs in the whiskey barrels- feel free to snip as much as you need! Plenty of chairs and a table for alfresco dinners or just relaxing in the quiet and watching the hummingbirds come to the flowers. Winter nights are perfect to cozy up by the woodstove with a blanket and a great cup of tea or glass of wine. Watching the snow fall, maybe with an old book in hand or hosting a game night or movie night with friends. Note: The house is situated on a private dirt road. In snowy weather conditions it could be difficult to navigate without 4WD. Please, drive slow and be careful on the access road. We routinely have cows, goats and chickens crossing the road.
