Easy driving distance from Mullumbimby, Byron Bay, Brunswick Heads, Ballina airport and Coolangatta / Gold Coast. Reno update: the cast-iron claw-foot bath is now installed on the deck! So you can have a steaming hot bath under the stars and talk to the cows at the same time!! A recently finished, self-contained hempcrete villa, perched high on the hillside with spectacular 270 degree rural valley views from sunrise to sunset. Constructed using healthy building principles, its timber floors, hempcrete walls, and rustic recycled timber create a natural eco-style with a contemporary aesthetic feel. The open living space benefits from high pitched ceilings. The double, sliding timber doors open up to the north facing front deck - an ideal place to soak in the 270 degree country vistas of the Koonum Range, Mt Chincogan and the ocean in the distance. The hempcrete construction and constant sea breezes will keep you cool even on the warmest of days. A ceiling fan above the bed and strong floor fan provide any additional cooling you might need. The main open-plan living space comprises the lounging, dining, kitchen and bedroom. The kitchen space is equipped with an oven, dishwasher, small fridge, & four ring halogen cooktop, stainless steel pots & pans, extra-long toaster for artisan breads, coffee plunger, kettle, and crockery & cutlery. There is also a hairdryer, iron and ironing board in the room. A large wooden dining table doubles as a workspace if needed. A portable prepaid modem is provided and simple to use. The Telstra 4G Wi-fi Plus portable modem is a phone-sized modem you can switch on whenever you want to use wifi. If it requires more credit I can purchase it remotely at your request, or you can purchase it and I reimburse you. Our phone reception is excellent so we have no problems with connectivity. The bedroom space comprises a queen-sized bed with large cabinet of drawers and clothes rail, for your belongings. The contemporary bathroom has a large shower, toilet and washbasin, with French doors opening up to an outside area. Our guests have the whole villa to themselves. It is fully self-contained with separate access. It has its own parking area with space for 2 cars. Access from the main road is via a shared driveway. The villa overlooks the main house where we live, 150m down the hill. We will be onsite most of the time if you need anything. You are welcome to arrive any time after 2pm, or contact us for an earlier check-in. We believe this is the perfect rural location.... away from town but close enough to Mullumbimby, Byron Bay and Brunswick Heads. There are many rare and beautiful species like parrots, frogs, echidnas, pademelons and other creatures. Other important things to know......... We have live electric fences close to the house to keep the cows out. The villa was constructed using healthy building principles, which include no chemicals. Please avoid chemical pesticides and strong perfumes. There is absolutely no smoking inside the villa or bathroom because the natural render on the walls absorbs the smell. If you smoke outside or on the deck please take care to dispose of butts responsibly to avoid bushfires. Rosy, our small and harmless dog lives on the farm, and normally stays down at the main house. We are training her to welcome guests quietly! Guests have access to the entire villa. We live on the property too and are available if you need anything. Byron Shire is a friendly rural township with natural attractions, great food, quality music festivals & cultural activities. Mullumbimby is a hub for all things 'alternative' from spirituality, to therapies, to restaurants & coffee shops, to clothing & natural products. There are local farmers markets selling organic produce most days of the week, all driving distance from the property. Whatever you're interested in, just ask and we'll point you in the right direction! Having a car will help you make the most of your stay here. We are a 5 min drive into Mullumbimby; 20 min to Byron Bay; 15 min to Brunswick Heads; 35 min to Ballina airport; 45 min to Coolangatta / Gold Coast airport. UBER is available during the main festivals and most other times. Go taxi and local taxis are available for booking. Buses are available during the day from Mullumbimby to Brunswick Heads & Byron Bay. There are shuttles to the airports from Mullumbimby. Parking in Mullumbimby is free. Having your own transportation will enable to make the most of your stay with us.
