Blue Haven, a place to find peace and beauty.
It is a cabin, but the interior is upscale and comfortable. No camping out. Fully equipped kitchen included. Games and selection of DVDs are available. The view is beautiful as depicted in photos. Cows, donkeys, turkeys and deer roam in the front field. It is two miles from Bakersville, where several art shops sell the works of artists who have studied or have connections to Penland Craft School, 15 miles away. May and June have hundreds of fireflies at night; the sky sparkles. The space consists of one full bedroom with a bathroom that is accessible from the bedroom and from the living area. The open floor plan living space is divided by a screen for privacy to screen off where the sofa bed is located. The cabin is very comfortable and offers many good places to sit and take in the view. Being there is very peaceful and beautiful. I love to sit and watch the sky and the light changes. The kitchen and dining area are in the center of the living space and the dining table looks out a large window so you can continue to watch the view. Guests have the entire house for their own use. The house has fully equipped kitchen. There are not many eating establishments close by. Grocery shopping is limited, so it is suggested you bring food that you want to eat. The most diverse grocery shopping is at Walmart between Spruce Pine and Little Switzerland. It is about 25 minutes away, but is open 24 hours and does sell beer and wine. The driveway is steep and gravel. Drive slowly, and it is accessible. I am not local, but I have people locally available for problems or questions Attractions in the area. Dellinger's Grist Mill, Bakersville, NC, is a working mill that has been restored. Loafer's Glory Rafting and Tubing, Bakersville, offers rafting trips. Pendland Craft School, very famous fine arts school with a gallery. Several art shops in downtown Bakersville selling art by artists who have a connection to Bakersville. Linville Falls Winery, very interesting local winery that offers daily wine tastings. Blue Ridge Parkway, with vistas and short hikes at stops along the way. The Appalachian Trail is nearby and also offers hiking opportunities.
