My sister and I own this sweet little cottage right on beautiful Birch Lake in the northern part of the Lower Peninsula. Great for couples, families, and big groups! Shallow, sandy lake, beautiful sunsets, fire pit for roasting marshmallows, paddleboat, grill... all the ingredients for a perfect summer getaway! Just a 5-minute drive to the town of Elk Rapids and its restaurants, shops, and Lake Michigan beach. We love it here, and we think you will, too! The cottage has two bedrooms (one with a full size bed, one with two sets of bunk beds), a living room, a full size kitchen, one bathroom, and a three-seasons room. We also have a pullout couch in the living room for additional sleeping space. Beautiful Birch Lake is right out the back door! Sandy-bottomed and shallow for quite a ways out, the lake is ideal for family fun, especially in the paddleboat that's there for you to use. We have a fire pit in the back yard, as well, so your dreams of yummy s'mores can become reality any night of the week! You will have the entire cottage and our waterfront all to yourself. There is a grocery store less than ten minutes away, and just as close is the adorable village of Elk Rapids, with lots of cute shops and independently-owned restaurants. They shut down the main street on Wednesdays in the summer to throw a weekly block party with live music and fun for the whole family. Elk Rapids also has a great stretch of public beach on Lake Michigan, if you want a little change of scenery for the day. And be sure to check out Pearl's, a New Orleans-style restaurant located between the cottage and Elk Rapids - delicious! For a fun day trip, head to Traverse City, just about half an hour away - one of Michigan's most beloved tourist destinations! There is free parking at the cottage.
