Beautiful and private LOBSTER THEMED apartment has a KING BED and FIREPLACE in a secluded historic building in a lovely neighborhood! Private entrance. Near hiking trails, Riverwalk, 1 hr drive to Acadia National Park, walk to downtown Bangor! Superhosts! READ EVERYTHING BEFORE YOU BOOK by clicking below-Thanks! This house was built during the Civil War! Go back in time here at the George Rider House! The kitchen is really unique; George Rider, the original owner of the property way back in the mid 1800's, was a joiner, a type of carpenter specializing in cabinetry. George Rider was featured in an architectural history book on Italianite buildings of Bangor, Maine! He built the building for himself and his family, and the kitchen in this unit and the owner's unit, features the original cabinetry! There are many unique built-ins and features to enjoy, such as the old-time breadmaking drawer! The second bedroom has a curved rounded wall! I have written up some of the history so you can read about it, if you enjoy it like I do. The space is a two bedroom apartment and sleeps 3 people. It comes with great amenities to make your stay comfortable. Bedrooms: *Master Bedroom: There is a King size bed inside the master bedroom with a super comfortable mattress, for you to have the most comfortable sleep. It is outfitted with a luxurious memory foam topper. The master bedroom features a lovely fireplace which is as simple to use as pushing a button. It can be operated with heat or without, using just the LED's (fire-look, great to use in the summer when you don't want to use heat). *One twin bed in the second bedroom. This mattress is also outfitted with the same luxurious memory foam topper that the master bed has. This room features a gallery wall of mirrors, opposite a curved wall. *All sheets, linens, quilts and pillows are provided. Sound machines are provided in both bedrooms if you prefer to fall asleep to white noise, rain, etc, or nothing at all. Living room and Dining area: *The living room has a 55 inch television. We have ALWAYS used professional, disinfecting janitorial grade cleaners to disinfect between our guests, prior to Covid19, and after. We block off at least one day between guests, which is at least 30 hours. Also run an ozone machine which kills bacteria and viruses within the air space. Additionally, our space has a private entrance with a self check-in, to allow for maximum social distancing. We have made huge efforts to be sustainable and green. Our efforts are ongoing. Gosh, we even recycled and saved a whole building for the sake of history! Read all about it when you arrive! Guest access Please be advised that due to COVID-19 and City restrictions, the following measures have been put in place and are being enforced to the fullest extent and monitored by City Officials. Safety and the trust of our guest is our #1 priority. 1. We require all the names of guests that will be staying in the space messaged to host at/before booking 2. Everyone over the age of 18 must be prepared to present a valid government issued identification in order to enter the building 3. No visitors allowed. Only reserved guests that have registered will be permitted to enter the building 4. No animals, period. 5. No parties, no events 6. No smoking in the unit or anywhere on the property. If found in violation, the fine is $250 and you will be asked to leave, without refund 7. The property is under 24 hour surveillance, staffed by security guards and Brewer Police Department. Entry is heavily monitored. 8. Quiet hours are strictly enforced 9. For host privacy, please, no backyard access. Please don't walk around the yard or on the grass, but feel free to use the front walk and take photos in front of the house the front steps (by our Historic sign) as a memento if you like! 9. This is only a quick summary of rules, please see the House Manual. Please make sure your guest count is accurate and message all names of guest that will be in the unit. Guest without without confirmation will be asked to leave immediately. Please remember our maximum guest count is 3 people at this time. Thank you in advance for your cooperation and understanding as we work together to provide the best possible service and comply with City Regulations. Other things to note This is a garden style property, which means that your entrance door opens to the outdoors, not a hallway. Please don't leave the front door open, because Maine is a climate with insects and animals that love being invited inside ;) Regretfully, this historic second floor apartment is not handicap accessible. It requires a climb of 17 steps to reach the unit, and there is also a step inside the unit between the master bedroom and the living room. One thing that is helpful, the stairs are newer-designed and not treacherous steep old house stairs! To access the small bedroom, you have to walk through the master bedroom (this is what is known as a "railroad apartment"). Of course, the small bedroom has it's own door like any other bedroom, as does the master bedroom. Please note that price includes 9% required Maine hospitality sales tax. If you see a "Occupancy Tax" of 9%, that is the Maine hospitality sales tax. This extra charge does not go to the host, and collectively, as hosts we are sorry guests have to pay this. Please note that in rural Maine, cellphone service, wifi, and satillite can go out in many places; we have discovered that sometimes guests' cell service may not cover areas this far north. It can be a very wise idea to print out your directions to our space and go old school, as well as print or write down your key code, in the instance that your cell service goes out late at night on your way here. Just in case! The apartment door automatically locks every time the door closes, so please do take note of your key code so that you don't get locked out, for example, if you went out to sit in the balcony, in, say, your underwear :0 This historical property is "slightly older", from 1860. This means that most of the building is not modern, although it is clean as a whistle! The bathroom and tub have older looking tile although it is sparkling clean. You may notice the same with the kitchen cabinets and counter being older, although we are proud of the cabinets, as this historical building's first owner and builder, George Rider, built them. We put away the balcony furniture from sometime in October to May, weather depending. The outdoor furniture unfortunately won't be out - but the snow likely will - and the slopes will be open nearby :) Winter is also a great time for snowshoeing, and crosscountry skiing. There are is a rental shop nearby and trails. Not to mention sledding!
