Matt, Chanté, with dogs, Aspen and Minerva, welcome you to The Prairie House! When you book the Upstairs Rooms, you get private access to the upstairs, including our cozy Queen Room, with queen bed and futon chair, our bright Twin room, with two twin beds, as well as our Sitting Room with a microwave, mini-fridge, and coffee pot. Please consider that our guest rooms are upstairs, which requires you to use a steep flight of stairs, and the only bathroom is a shared first-floor bathroom. Our home is an old farmhouse with lots of character! The original structure first shows up on tax records as far back as the 1850s, with sections added in the 1930s. While we love the charm of the old farm home, we are working to make cosmetic updates, so please excuse any areas that are still a work in progress. We will respect your stay and will not work on any home projects that would cause a disruption to your visit or leave any guest areas unsafe. The single bathroom is a shared main floor bathroom. We invite guests to use the living room downstairs (please pardon the construction!) though there is a more private sitting room upstairs if you prefer, where you will also find a microwave, mini-fridge, and coffee pot for your convenience. You can also use our screened porch for sitting in addition to our large side yards and outdoor sitting area. Honoring Airbnb's terms of service, guests can reach us via the Airbnb app with any questions, comments, or concerns. Limiting communication to the Airbnb App allows us all to assist you promptly. Once you arrive, we would be more than happy to interact with you as much or as little as you please. Whether you want to head straight to your room with as little interaction as possible, or you want to share stories of any adventures you've had! We love our quaint little neighborhood; it's tranquil, our neighbors are super friendly, and most local attractions are within walking distance. While sidewalks are intermittent, this has never caused any issues. We are just six blocks off the river and within walking distance to many excellent eating establishments. Pepin is pretty small and rural, which means there is no public transportation. It would be best if you planned on walking, biking, or taking your car. In the summer months, The Garden Pub has a golf cart taxi which is $2 per person anywhere in town and accessible to the Garden Pub. Our home is an older farmhouse, and the stairs to get to the guest rooms require going up steep steps. The one bathroom is a shared bathroom on the main level. We also have two dogs that will bark upon greeting. Please pardon the dust as we continue to make progress on giving our quirky farmhouse a facelift; we'll never leave guests' areas unsafe, though things may not appear "polished" in some of the common areas.
