Located near Whiteface Mountain, Lake Placid and multiple hiking trails. Amidst spectacular panoramic mountain views, an inviting, furnished, and fully equipped rustic mountain cottage on 30 secluded acres in the High Peaks region of the Adirondack Mountains, approximately 2 miles above Keene. Close to over 30 hiking trails, Whiteface mountain and lake Placid. Only 15 miles from Lake Placid (Olympic Attractions) and Whiteface Mountain (rated #1 in Ski Magazine for highest elevated drop in the east for downhill skiing) and 20 -25 miles from Lake Champlain (within 20 minute ferry between Essex, NY and Charlotte, VT). Close to year around bobsled and luge and the Lake Placid ice-skating rink. Close to the Jackrabbit cross-country skiing trail, among others. Good tires are needed and in the winter all wheel drive or 4wheel drive are preferable Breathtaking, lofty panoramic view of the Great Range and more, including Mt. Marcy (many say the best such views in the Adirondacks). During May - October, one may enjoy the scenery and the sounds of wildlife, hike many nearby and High Peak trails, rock climb, fish and swim in the Ausable River, canoe and kayak in nearby ponds (including a favorite, Chapel Pond), lakes and streams, play golf or tennis ... even checkers! Leaf-peeping usually best from late-September to mid-October. Ideal for novelists, poets, scholars . . . or just plain old (and young) nature lovers. About 1320 sq. ft. with decks (240 sq. ft.) House sleeps 8 in beds. Two small contiguous main floor bedrooms, one with a double bed and a view of the "Great Range," the other with two single beds. Upstairs bedroom with one double bed and a contiguous loft with two single beds. Thus ideally configured for two families. On the main floor: kitchen, full shower/bath, living/dining area. Additionally: a beautiful, stone wood-burning fireplace, large "picture window" (with "the Great Range" view), and a nice deck that includes a charcoal grill. Also available: Internet and stereo system. However, no landline telephone (though Verizon-compatible cell phones work. Additionally, parking for extra cars is availlable. Partially winterized (including moveable radiators) for sometimes chilly Spring and Autumn nights. Heavily wooded property in the heart of the 46ers, hence little space for major organized sports. For these and most other serious outdoor activities--boating, fishing, golfing, hiking, hunting (no guns allowed), rock-climbing, swimming, tennis, etc.--we go mostly off property in and around the valley, the Ausable River (fantastic swimming holes!), and nearby mountains and lakes. Available May 15 - Ocober 1 depending on temperature as there is no central heating, only fireplace and two bedroom electric radiators. Easy access: 2-2.5 hours drive from Albany (NY), Burlington (VT), and Montreal airports. Friendly property manager available to assist and advise when needed. We are a pet friendly place and will leave you a pet welcome basket upon arrival. It includes Sheets to cover furniture, blankets to sleep on, food and water dishes, waste bags, towels in case they get wet and a leash.
