As one of Warrensburg's few historical buildings, this property was originally an apartment complex in the early 1900s. After being known as, "Siam Restaurant," for 25+ years, it is ready to revisit its roots as a living space. My father (who purchased the property) was a pilot and stationed at Whiteman AFB. He flew a cargo plane for Air America (a CIA operation) during the Vietnam war. Memorabilia and pilot-inspired decor is a recurring theme here. Your bedroom is eccentric and minimal, yet ultra cozy. The curtains are black-out for those of you who like to sleep in. Your full bathroom is close by. This building has been a restaurant for the last 25 years. For several years before it closed in 2015, there was not a lot of upkeep to the aesthetic quality. I am making consistent upgrades to address this. It must be stated that the basement has a 1900s "air" about it and is only necessary to visit during a tornado. There are several community rooms. There’s a main kitchen by the back door, there is an industrial size kitchen by your bathroom and there is also a lounge area with a ping-pong table and games. There is also a laundry room for guests who are staying more than a few days. It is also a shared space. Available at check-in and 24/7 via cell. There is central access to all of Warrensburg's most well-travelled places and a garden located in the back. (Ask for a tour!) There are fresh herbs for you if you are a fan of mint, cilantro, basil. Also, the only magnolia tree in the city resides in the back parking lot area. I recommend Rib N Crib for BBQ (Tuesday night is endless ribs!!), and Java Junction for the best coffee. If you're not a coffee elitist, there's a Starbucks on UCM Campus and a Scooters (locally owned chain) a block away. The best doughnuts are just northeast next to Papa John's Pizza, but they close after they run out, which is sometimes as early as 10am. The best greasy spoon is Mary Janes, south of town. Also, if you're interested in Kansas City's "Best Of," I have suggestions ranging from eateries to jazz and museums (think: one of the only hair museums in the country/world.) Within walking distance to the University and downtown, there isn't a lot you can't access from here on foot. A comfortable pair of shoes is recommended - some of the sidewalks are a little uneven. For those who need public transportation, there is a taxi service called ETS (URL HIDDEN) and for an $8 flat fee, they will take you anywhere you need to go within Warrensburg city limits. WAFB is $10 and Sedalia is $10. We are so happy to be hosting you! There is a sweet beautiful baby girl puppy that is on the premises some of the time. She is very well behaved and will not be in your way.
