Oak High Mountain House in Stallion Springs

Oak High Mountain House, at 3,783' elevation, is a cozy, quiet, private weekend getaway or a week long vacation from anywhere. Great for couples, solo adventurers, nature lovers and families with children attending Woodward West (less than a mile away). The house has everything you need for a home away from home. Enjoy! The decor is contemporary/rustic. There is a wrap around front porch with chairs and small tables (available in the warmer months) to sit and watch the mule deer and elk walking by or grazing. There is also a deck in the backyard that stretches the entire length of the house, with lounge chairs for relaxing, a picnic table for outside dining, other chairs for sitting and nature watching and sail shades at both ends of the deck. There is a 46" Smart TV with Internet access, so if you have a Netflix, Vudu, Amazon Prime, YouTube or Fandango Now account you can access it (sorry I do not have satellite/cable TV). There is Roku available or you can bring and plug in your own Firestick or Roku. There is a DVD player and a DVD library with many movies to choose from, a small library of books to read and a cupboard full of games to play while a guest of the house. Thank you! You may message me at anytime should you run into a problem, need information, etc. Stallion Springs is a quiet, very friendly community with that small town feel. There are hiking trails within walking distance or you can go right up the back street that turns into a dirt road, it goes 1.5 miles up hill with great views of Stallion Springs. You will enjoy lots of nature...woodpeckers, blue jays, quail, rabbits, ground squirrels, fox, skunk, mule deer, black tall deer, California elk, turkey vultures, hawks, owls and ravens, just to name a few. California Condors also live in Stallion Springs, I've seen them a few times and they are awesome! During the summer months its snake season, gopher snakes (non-venomous), king snakes (non-venomous) and rattlesnakes (VENOMOUS), so please be aware. And occasionally there are mountain lion, bobcats, raccoons, coyote and wild boar in the area. The house is located less than a mile from Woodward West - Skateboard/BMX/Inline/Scooter/Gymnastics/Cheer/ Summer Camp. Also just down the street is a Chevron gas station/general store, Papa's House Pizza and P-Dub's Grille and Bar. Stallion Springs is located approx. 20 minutes from the main part of Tehachapi. You will need your own vehicle to get around, or Uber, Lyft or a local taxi/cab company. In the main part of Tehachapi there are so many things to do...wine tasting, alpaca farms, museums, shopping, restaurants, many different monthly festivals, entertainment...the list goes on and on. Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT) For occupancy in any hotel, motel, vacation rental, etc. located in an unincorporated area of Kern County (i.e. Stallion Springs), the Kern County Treasurer-Tax Collector requires a 6% transient occupancy tax (TOT) on the total nightly rental, to be charged to the guest, collected by the host and paid to the county. Please see the Transient Occupancy Tax certificate located on the computer desk. This tax has already been added into the nightly rate for your convenience. Thank you.
