Stay in my fully renovated 1860 Saltbox house in the heart of Dutchess County. It is located approximately 2 miles off the Sylvan Lake/Hopewell Junction/Beekman Road exit off the Taconic State Parkway, directly on Beekman Road in the hamlet of Beekmanville, with its 7 historic houses and an old stagecoach stop nestled close to the road from the days when horses and buggies were all the transportation people used. It is located approximately 12 minutes from the Pawling Metro-North Station, and you could take a taxi here, but you would need a car to get around. There is an Enterprise car rental facility in Pawling that will pick you up if you arrange it in advance. It is also VERY easy to get here by car from NYC: 1.5 hours north on the Taconic. I am less than 3 miles from the exit, on the same road the exit is on. There are three bedrooms in total: one downstairs with a queen-sized bed, and two upstairs, one with a full bed and a twin, and the other with two twin beds. This is a total of 3 one-person beds and 2 two-person beds. Comfortably sleeps up to 8 people , if one person stays on the couch, or on my twin air mattress. There is one bathroom with both a standing shower and a separate tub. The kitchen is fully equipped with All-Clad pans, sharp knives, and spices galore. The large patio, accessible through the sliding French-style doors in the dining room, has both a gas BBQ and a fire pit. The living room also has a wood-burning stove, which is very cozy in the winter. The house sits on almost 5.5 acres, and the Fishkill Creek bisects the backyard. No car? For a $50 cash fee, I will pick you and your group up at the Pawling Metro North station 15 minutes away, take you to the local grocery store for supplies when you arrive, and drop you back at the station at the end of your stay. I can do this for a maximum of 4 guests. 6-8 guests = a $85 fee, as I will hire a second driver. Available for short- or longer-term rental. Rentals longer than 30 days will require a cleaning every 30 days. The fee for this is $85 per cleaning. Rentals longer than 60 days require a phone conversation first. :) The house has WiFi and four smart televisions — already set up with Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, Youtube, and more. There is basic cable as well. There is a Verizon cell phone signal booster inside the house. Sprint has service here without it. You will have full use of the house including kitchen amenities such as spices, oils, butter, etc., as well as keyless entry with a coded door lock, access to two bicycles, and plenty of local information and help. I have lived in the area for over 30 years. I am also available for hire as a private guide/chauffer. Please email for details. Children and small, well-behaved pets and are allowed. There is so much to do around here! 2-3 minutes away: Walking distance to Barton Orchards (pick your own apples, pumpkins, berries, peaches, and pears, depending on the season. Lots of music, games, playgrounds, food, cider, doughnuts, a corn maze, and a haunted hayride, at Halloween!) Dunkin Donuts, Cumberland Farms, Stop and Shop, Sunoco Gas, 2 Chinese Food Restaurants (one that delivers), 3 Pizza Places, a diner, 2 pharmacies, and a post office. 5-10 minutes away: The Appalachian Trail, Dutchess County Rail Trail (You can bike all the way to Walkway on the Hudson from here!), Tymor Park (horse trails, hiking trails, volleyball, park, playground, swimming pool), The Beekman Recreation Center (walking trails, small beach, miniature golf, baseball fields), tennis courts (at a local Middle School… beautifully maintained and available for free when school is not in session), Sprout Creek Farm, Stormville Flea Market, Taconic Tennis Club and Gym (indoor/outdoor tennis, ball machines, lessons, yoga, pilates, and exercise classes and a gym, indoor basketball), The Links at Union Vale Golf Course, James Baird State Park and Golf Course, and Beekman Golf Courses, The town of Pawling with a Metro North stop and McKinney and Doyle restaurant, Dutcher Golf Course, Trinity Pawling School and Ice Skating Rink, and the town of Hopewell Junction, with CVS, several major grocery stores, and much more. Between 15 and 20 minutes away: Daryl’s House (Music Venue owned by Daryl Hall), Innisfree Gardens in Millbrook, Vassar College, Vassar Golf Course, Thunder Ridge Ski Area, Overlook Drive-In Movie Theater, Millbrook Winery, Cascade Winery, the Carey Arboretum, the former IBM, turned Global Foundaries. Beacon and Breakneck Ridge Hiking, The Culinary Institute of America, Roosevelt Drive-In Movie Theater, the FDR estate, Val-Kill (Eleanor Roosevelt’s Estate), Mill’s Mansion, The Vanderbilt Estate, and many other historic sites, the Dutchess County Wine Trail, The Poet’s Walk in Poughkeepsie, Dutchess Community College, IBM, the Mid-Hudson Civic Center, Bardavon Theater, Fahnestock State Park with swimming, boating, hiking, the Poughkeepsie Galleria, The Danbury Fair Mall. 45-60 minutes away: SUNY Newpaltz, Mohonk and Minnewaska hiking, Rhinebeck, the Omega Institute, Millerton, Storm King State Park, West Point, Woodbury Commons Outlet Shopping
