Welcome to the Cuyuna Wattage Cottage! We built this ultramodern cabin to be an energy-efficient, off-grid, solar-powered retreat for you to enjoy after biking, scuba-diving or hiking in this beautiful area. You’ll love viewing a sunrise through two stories of windows in the main living space or warming up after a long day by the fireplace. Located just a 1/2 mile away from the Cuyuna mountain bike trail system, in-between the Yawkey and Cruser’s Kettle trails. It’s just two miles from Crosby. The Cuyuna Wattage Cottage is very unique. It is a proof-of-concept for how homes might be built 50 years from now. The walls were pre-made by a giant styrofoam cutting robot from Switzerland. They are about one foot thick. There is no furnace or duct work, heat radiates from the floor instead. The huge windows and overhang were designed to heat the home in the winter but not in the summer. The light creates unique moments as the sun arcs through its daily path. It's very different. Some people hate it, we love it. Let us know what you think. The entire home is yours to use. The mechanical room is the exception, there is high current in there and should not be entered as it is dangerous. Reservations are open on a rolling window.
