1920s, craftsman and art-deco-inspired apartment located in the heart of Ashland’s Main Street Historic District. Ditch the car and walk to local amenities like the grocery store, brewpub, bars, restaurants, shops, library, and movie theater. View Ashland’s downtown murals. The Lake Superior waterfront is steps away...where you can stroll the shoreline path or bicycle the 9-mile town loop. Whatever you do, at the end of your day you’ll find cozy comfort at The Garland City Downtown Apartment. Main bedroom has a queen-size bed and attached 3-season porch with views across Ashland to Lake Superior. Second bedroom has a full-size bed. Living room couch folds down to sleep one adult or 2 children. Washing machine and dryer on premises. The kitchen is fully furnished with dishes, pots and pans, cutlery and utensils. Microwave, dishwasher, electric range and oven, toaster, and coffee maker also included. Note the refrigerator does not have an automatic ice maker. Linens and pillows provided for all sleeping facilities. Towels provided as well. Please note: The apartment is upstairs and there is no elevator. Parking is available for 1-2 vehicles in the alley behind the building. The entry door at the back of the building is the most accessible and provides the best stairway access to the apartment. The second stairway at the front of the building is also available for access onto Main Street. We live in Ashland and are available to answer questions or provide recommendations about local amenities and activities. We are very knowledgeable in area hiking trails and outdoor activities and would be happy to recommend places to explore! Ashland’s Main Street West is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and the apartment is in the heart of the Historic District. Take a stroll down Main Street and view Ashland’s historic murals that depict local history. As you walk, you’ll take in the many historic buildings like City Hall, the former Masonic Temple, Northern State Bank, and Vaughn Library. Nestled in between are many shops, bars and restaurants, a brew pub, grocery store and movie theater, and other little small town gems. Walk Main Street for shopping, food and drink. Walk 2 minutes to the Lake Superior waterfront, or bicycle the 9-mile lakefront/town loop trail. Drive to Copper Falls State Park, picturesque Bayfield, the National Forest both north and south of town, all within 35 minutes. Take a day cruise, rent paddleboards or sea kayaks, or hire a sailboat to see the many islands of the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore. Mountain bike trails are also nearby and cater to beginners and experts alike. In the winter, there are hundreds of kilometers of cross-country ski trails at places like The Birkie Trail, Mt. Ashwabay and Valhalla. Several downhill ski slopes are located an hour or so to the east on the border with Michigan and offer some of the finest skiing and snowboarding in the Midwest. And snowmobile trails abound in almost every direction.
