Welcome to the Bear Den on beautiful Lake Bernard! Enjoy your own piece of paradise at our waterfront cottage just 2.5 hours north of Toronto. Shallow, sandy bottom lake access is great for families. Ideal location, only a 3 minute drive to the town of Sundridge. We hope to offer a 5-star experience for our guests and look forward to hosting you! If you’re looking for a relaxing getaway year round, look no further. Our family friendly cottage has everything you’ll need for your stay. Enjoy the bright, open concept living space with picturesque views of Lake Bernard. Our cottage has 2 bedrooms, a loft, fully equipped kitchen, open concept living/dining area, 1.5 bathrooms (4-piece bathroom with soaker tub & stand alone shower) and laundry in powder room. A large bunkie with 2 bunk beds (sleeps 2 adults OR 4 children) is also available during the summer by request (for an additional charge). During the summer guests can enjoy everything cottage country has to offer. Enjoy your days on the lake canoeing, paddle boarding, floating on the lily pad foam mat or lounging on the dock. Direct shallow entry lake access is ideal for families with children. Lots of swimming space off the end of the dock (water is 2ft deep). You can walk out approx 40 metres until it drops off to deeper water. In the evening, guest can enjoy lakeside bonfires under the stars. During the winter cozy up on the couch in front of the warm gas fireplace and enjoy the views of the snow covered lake. An outdoor fire pit is also available for your enjoyment if you’re willing to brave the cold (firewood not included). Ice fishing, snowshoeing and snowmobiling are popular winter activities on Lake Bernard. Walk directly from the cottage onto the lake for ice fishing & snowshoeing. Plenty of driveway space to park snowmobiles with access to sled on the lake just one minute down the road. Plenty of hiking trails to explore nearby. •A canoe, paddle board, floating foam mat, backyard games and adult life jackets are provided for guests. We suggest guests bring child life vests to ensure proper fit. •Gas BBQ •Fire pit (firewood not provided) •The bunkie sleeps 2 adult guests or 4 children and is available by request during the summer months with 2 bunk beds (double mattresses on the bottom & singles on top). $25 extra charge per person, per night. Linens not provided. •The cottage has unlimited internet and an office nook in the loft. A printer is also available. The cottage doesn’t have cable tv, but guests are welcome to sign into their own Netflix or Amazon accounts on our Smart TV. •Board games, puzzles, crayons and cards are available for guests. •Self check-in with a smart lock & personalized passcode. •The dock is removed by October 1st and put back in the water at the end of May. Available to answer questions over airbnb message. Take a 3 minute drive into the town of Sundridge where you will find everything you need including restaurants, Foodland, LCBO, Guardian Pharmacy, Copperhead Distillery and a local butcher shop. Visit our neighbouring town of South River to enjoy a local favourite craft brewery (South River Brewing Co). Bring your golf clubs or rent them and hit the green at ‘The Ridge Golf Club’ located 2 minutes from the cottage. For summer weekly bookings our property can accommodate a maximum of 4 adults, 2 children & 1 infant (crib provided). For all other bookings we can accommodate up to 6 guests. • French press & a variety of coffee pods provided. •Bath towels and outdoor beach towels are not provided. •Bed linens & pillows provided for the main bedroom. Guests must bring bed linens, pillow cases & blankets for the 2 queen beds in the second bedroom and for the bunk beds in the bunkie (if booked). • Guests will be provided with a limited amount of basic supplies including dish soap, dishwasher tabs, paper towel, toilet paper, tissues, cleaning products and laundry pods. Guests will be required to provide their own supplies once the initial supply is used up. •small, well behaved hypoallergenic dogs allowed by request for an extra fee •The fireplace is turned off during the summer months. •Our cottage does not have air conditioning yet. We have fans for guest use. •There is a train track located directly across the main road in front of our cottage. It goes by approximately 2-3 times during a 24 hour period. You will be able to hear the train horn in the upstairs bedroom if the windows are left open at night.
