Millstone Manor, titled from the millstone embedded in the limestone entry steps, rests on 2.8 acres in the eastern Hudson Valley, close to the Litchfield Hills in CT. The driveway leads through stone pillars, past a carriage house and to your destination. The walls are curated with original artwork by host artist and associates. The windows frame rolling hills and Hemlock and Maple trees. The wi-fi enhanced home is a well-designed place for work and relaxation. The living room is equipped with a Roku TV. The library office can be closed off with french doors. Enjoy ball sports in the large yard, or table tennis or crafts in the renovated basement, which also has a treadmill and a washer and dryer. Guests use Millstone Manor house at the end of the driveway. The boiler room in the basement is owner-use only. The Carriage House and garage are not available to guests. The host maintains an art studio in the Carriage House at the driveway entrance and will be available to answer any questions that may arise. The East Mountain area of the Town of Dover is mostly populated with wildlife. You will see or hear red-tail hawks, pheasants, eagles, deer, coyotes, owls, and occasionally a human walking along scenic Berkshire Road. Nearby nature areas include the Dover Stone Church Preserve, Nellie Hill Preserve, the Roger Perry Memorial Preserve, and the Appalachian Trail. Other attractions include nationally recognized Innisfree Gardens, and Millbrook Vineyards, both only 25 minutes away. The Wassaic Project (visual and performing art) and Harlem Valley Rail Trail (paved) are 5 miles north in Wassaic, NY. Dutchess County is a popular travel destination. The House is a short drive to Kent, CT (15 min.), Pawling or Millbrook, NY (17 min.), Massachusetts (50 min.), or Vermont (90 min). The Dover Plains Metro-North railway station is two miles away with service to Grand Central Station. A printed brochure will have more information when you arrive. The Carriage House is shared by the owner and another tenant.
