Hudson Valley Modern
Your Scandinavian-inspired Hudson Valley getaway awaits! Our home is just 90 minutes north of Manhattan and easily accessible by train. Explore the natural beauty of Dutchess County or stay in and watch dramatic sunsets from the wall of windows in the high-ceilinged, open-plan living area. This modern country house is stylishly furnished, with a smart art collection and thoughtful touches throughout. Gather for a casual meal around the island of the newly renovated and fully equipped chef's kitchen. For a slightly more formal but equally cozy affair, the dining table just off the kitchen seats six. A striking spiral staircase leads to the bedrooms upstairs. The master boasts a cloud-like king size bed and en-suite bathroom, and the equally comfy guest bedroom is equipped with a sleeping loft that can accommodate an additional guest. After a restful sleep, have your morning coffee on any of the lounge areas of the house's wrap-around deck. In the winter, you'll be overlooking snow-capped hills; in the warmer months, you'll be tucked away in the treetops. Need to take care of a few things? The office off the main house is a quiet place to answer emails and take calls. You may want to linger and explore the sizable library of art books or take the Peloton for a ride (just remember to bring your cycling shoes). Time to venture out! The nearby villages of Millbrook and Rhinebeck offer no shortage of shops and restaurants and, a little further out, Hudson and Millerton are prime spots for antiquing. Not your thing? Opt for any number of vigorous hikes in the area or a scenic walk around the lake at Innisfree Garden to work up an appetite. Stop at the farmer's market on your way back home and, if the weather is right for an alfresco meal, roll out the grill. After dinner, wind down with a movie in the den or a nightcap around the fire pit in the woods behind the house. Cheers! Make yourselves at home! You'll have full run of the house. We won't be there to welcome you in person but we're only ever a phone call or text away should you need anything. The town of Clinton Corners is teeny-tiny — a deli, a farm store and (thankfully) a wine shop but "civilization" is easily accessible in Millbrook just minutes away and other charming nearby towns like Rhinebeck, Milllerton and Hudson. It's a beautiful train ride along the Hudson—Metro North and Amtrak serve the area—but a car is highly recommended for getting around once here. You'll have the option of parking your car in the garage which is advisable during snowy winters. We'll provide a comprehensive house manual as well as recommendations for your stay.
