Tiny House of Paul was designed by architectural home builder & furniture craftsman, Paul J. Frank. A four room style & full size loft create a cozy yet spacious feel . A large west-facing window looks out onto the forest. Small windows in the loft open to tree tops & stars. Private inside, and centrally located near the greenhouse, woodshop & daffodil field, this opportunity to live "tiny" is welcomed by many. Wander the trails, check out the greenhouse/gardens & let us know your interests. We prefer that all guests at Tiny House of Paul and Eva's Roost be vaccinated and use masks according to State & CDC guidelines while visiting businesses & venues in our area. This is to protect the people cleaning as well as the people in our communities who may be serving you during your visit. We thank you for taking the pandemic and one another's health & safety seriously. Guests of Tiny House of Paul make their own bed. Pillows, sheets, pillowcases and a quilt are provided. Towels & dishtowels are provided as well. The loft has a raised ceiling(6"3) so it feels like a full bedroom up there where you can sleep with the stars. There is a full shower, toilet, and a basic kitchen (kettle, french press, toaster oven, mini-fridge, crock pot, electric skillet & induction plate) and all cooking utensils and dishes. If you're missing anything we're happy to provide it. Relax and spend time on the screened in porch(will be completed by September 30th) or around the small firepit located in front of the tiny house. There is also a small Weber grill for you to use(guests provide their own charcoal and lighter fluid). Tiny House of Paul is winter-ready with excellent insulation & radiant floor heating and summer-friendly with an efficient air conditioning system. We have an outdoor woodstove that heats the radiant floor in both the tiny house and the main house. It's behind the tiny house and we keep it going in the winter. The house will be set to a comfortable temperature for all times of year. You can adjust the unit in the loft if you like. The steps to the loft require some agility, but the grab bar makes it fairly easy. Coming down from the loft is easiest forward, not backward. You'll get the hang of it. Be sure to take some time to wander the trails around the pond, through the forest and the gardens. The entire tiny home is yours to use. Your parking spot is right alongside the tiny in front of the sign. You are welcome to visit the wander the property - visit the greenhouse, gardens and walk the trails around the pond. Bonnie is a mindfulness meditation teacher who usually hosts retreats, but is not currently during the pandemic. She is available for Mindful Living sessions(for a fee). Paul is the creator of everything you see, including having planted 4500 trees on this former daffodil farm. He's always happy to talk about how he landed here 35 years ago and what is vision is about, if you're interested. The town of Cobden is less than a mile. We can give suggestions of farmer's markets, shops, places to eat, get groceries etc. A binder in the tiny house has brochures, maps, local guidebooks etc. Make yourselves at home in Tiny House of Paul, on our property & in Southernmost Illinois. If you need anything, let us know. I am available by text during your stay. You are also welcome to come up to the main house, usually via the kitchen door facing the pond & call for one of us(during Covid-19 we aren't doing tours of the main house). We consider our kitchen a "community kitchen," so please help yourself if you need something or you want to use the oven(during Covid-19 ask if you're missing something). You are welcome to ask for a tour of the main house and/or Eva's Roost(if no one is staying there). Some guests are interested in the furniture building, gardening and other things going on. Others are happy to do their own thing and we hardly see them. You be you :) Such a great area. Southernmost Illinois is quite unique. You can read more about it under our Center For Lost Arts - Eva's Roost listing or in the guidebook. Some of our guests bike in the area. Some have walked into town, but it's about a mile on Old Hwy 51 so you need to feel comfortable doing that. Many hikes are only 5 to 15 minutes away, plus we have trails on our property throughout the forest. This listing is set to not allow pets, but we will consider each case as requested. and ask you to pay an extra fee to the cleaning person. The cats on the property, as well as raccoons and possums, will hang out on your deck if you put out food lol. Wifi is possible, but not always stable out here in the country. If you are needing to work, it would be best to bring your own hotspot.
