Beautiful 1920's Colonial house in Charming Historic Village bordering the majestic Hudson River, only 16 Miles from Manhattan. Old world charm and cozy bedroom on third floor with comfortable full size bed (sleeps 2). Closet has hanging and shelves for your belongings. There is a desk & Wifi if you have to work. A private hallway takes you to a full bathroom with an antique claw feet tub ideal for bathing and relaxing in style (hand held shower only). Another comfy bedroom with a single bed, closet and desk is also available on the same floor. Perfect for couple with a child or 2 friends each wanting their own room. Private & quiet 3rd Floor for guests. Use of large Eat-In Kitchen for breakfast & light meals. Access to common rooms. Lovely & quiet outdoor patio for breakfast & relaxing. Alex, your host, is a French Chef and would be happy to cook breakfast & dinner for you upon request (vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free available) We are a friendly family of 4 with 2 boys age 17 & 14. and we enjoy getting to know our guests but you can have as much privacy as you wish. Very safe family neighborhood nestled between the Ardsley Country Club Golf Course and the Old Croton Aqueduct State Historic Park. 5 minutes walk to the charming village of Dobbs Ferry with great restaurants and shops. Across the street from the 27-mile Old Croton Aqueduct Trail, paradise for hikers, joggers and bikers. Gorgeous riverfront park for walks and picnics. Canoe/Kayak launch. Easy access to the Hudson River Valley. Kykuit (Rockerfeller Estate), Philipsburg Manor (early 17th century dutch farm & mill) , Sunnyside (Washington Irving's house), Lyndhurst mansion, Pocantico Church with its Chagall & Matisse stained glass windows and Stone Barns Center for Agriculture, home to Dan Barber's Blue Hill Restaurant are all close by. Some of the best hiking can be found in the Rockefeller State Park Preserve, Fahnestock State Park & Hudson Highland State Park. There's Kayaking on the Hudson & Croton Rivers. And yet NYC is only a 35 minute train ride away. The best of both worlds ! A short & bucolic 14 minutes walk will take you to the Dobbs Ferry train station on the Metro North Hudson Line (36 minutes ride to Grand Central Station in midtown Manhattan). If you are coming by train with luggage and do not wish to walk, we will gladly pick you up if we are available at that time or arrange for a taxi pick-up. 5 minutes walk to the Bee Line bus stop taking you to White Plains or Yonkers and beyond. If you are coming by car we are right off the Saw Mill River Parkway & NY Interstate 87. I 287 passes by in Tarrytown, 4 miles away. Ample free and safe street parking available.
