He had worked on fishing boats in Alaska so hard work and "roughing-it" didn't bother him. During the depression, when money and materials were lacking, the cabin was built slowly, using resources he could find mostly from the property there. Some years later he started working at the Seattle Public Library and the library underwent a remodel in the late 1950's. My grandpa was able to salvage some building materials from that remodel to fix up the cabin. The light fixtures in kitchen and dining room, front lead-glass windows and window panes, marble pieces, wood paneling, to name a few. Since then, this little cabin in the woods has been in my family passed down from generation to generation. I loved the idea of being able to share this place that I have so many wonderful memories from with people from around the world. I've kept as much of the original decor, some dishes, appliances, etc. as possible; keeping it rustic and simple. Which in turn allows more energy to be focused on appreciating the beauty of nature and the company you're with. It's a serene place to unplug. Come away from the grit of daily life and see why this place is so special. Sign our guest "log" on the front porch and you too will be a part of it's story. Grab your cozy clothes, hiking boots, slippers and go cabining. Maximum of two vehicles. While I don't live on the property or near by, I do respond to all guests in a timely manner via Text or thru Airbnb app. If for any reason there is an issue please let me know and I will do my very best to resolve it asap.
