Unique 1840's, newly renovated, 6 bedroom farmhouse with rocking-chair porch, original wide floorboards, oak beams, comfortable bedrooms and a modern, octagonal kitchen with many windows overlooking the scenery. The house sits atop a knoll overlooking 20 acres of rolling pasture, barns and swimming/fishing pond. The house has an automatic backup generator, so that even power outages will not stop the fun. A perfect getaway for family and friends, the house features a fully equipped, 1,000 sq ft. octagonal gourmet kitchen, complete with professional 8-burner stove, double oven (chefs and baker's will feel right at home). Italian tiled floor (radiant heating) and dining table for twelve. If outdoor cooking is more your style a large stainless barbeque gas grill sits waiting for you out back. If you ever leave the kitchen, you will find a living room with cozy couches, perfect for conversation or watching a BlueRay or one of the hundreds of channels offered by Spectrum TV. Separate library for quiet time, with built in bookshelves, pretty desk, easy chair and queen size sleeper sofa and a propane fireplace. Not in the mood for television? There are plenty of games and puzzles for all ages just waiting to be enjoyed. Or, perhaps it is time for a sing-along around the grand piano. All six bedrooms come with fresh linens and comforters. There is even a bedroom on the ground floor, with a bathroom, for those less excited about stairs. For all our previous guests: We have just refurbished much of the house, adding a third floor bathroom and another bedroom with a king bed on that floor, and have restored the original library, creating a separate quiet place, as well as a new living room with more seating. The house is part of a unique farm, a peaceful place for bird and wildlife watchers or just those interested in the peaceful part. Acres of manicured lawns lead you to private groupings of Adirondack chairs perfect for a morning coffee or watching the sunset. There are plenty of places to stroll – perhaps a walk around the pond to see how the kids are making out on their fishing expedition… a cocktail in the vegetable garden… a game of bocce on the back lawn… poolside picnic… or a relaxing evening in the private 4-person hot tub (Hot tub turned off in the Summer). All of our lawns are treated with tick repellant to promote a safe environment. In the warmer months (JUNE, JULY, AUGUST) enjoy the fifty-foot fenced in in-ground swimming pool. The pool house is fully equipped with a refrigerator, stereo and iPod dock and plenty of seating and toys for long days of relaxation. The ¾-acre pond is a great place to fish, swim, or paddle across in the 3-4-person rowboat. Sitting beside the pond is a stone fire pit that is just waiting to roast all the marshmallows you crave. Horses are kept on the estate and you can book horse riding lessons, trial rides, and therapeutic sessions with Bianca! PLEASE UNDERSTAND - WE DO NOT PERMIT GATHERINGS OR PARTIES ON OUR PROPERTY. Dogs are allowed. 2 dogs is the maximum for a reservation. You must advise us if you would still like to bring a dog. They are never to sleep on a bed and are to be picked up after in the yard. If we find evidence that the pups sleep on a bed or cause damage, you will lose your security deposit. There is absolutely no smoking inside the house! Receptacles have been provided on both sides of the house for proper disposal. Only the guests that the reservation is made for are permitted to be in the house. We do not allow parties, visitors and outside guests. Other people do live on this property. **Pool is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day* The center of the charming Village of Rhinebeck is less than 5 minutes away and the Amtrak train to NYC or Albany is less than 10 minutes away.
