Great place to get away from the city and get some peace and quiet, like having your own park and lodge for a few days or longer. Tons of windows, a balcony and some really beautiful views are all at your beckon call. Lots of wildlife and open sky. 2.2 miles to Rainier OR, snacks and fuel, beer and wine, groceries, etc. Rainer has two marinas and a great place to launch a boat. Travel to Kelso Wa across the river and grab the Amtrak Cascades to wither Seattle or Portland or beyond The Pacific Northwest is an amazing place. We like to spend time in the area for the peace of mind, fishing, breathtaking views, and fun people. This house was designed by a couple in 1972 to feature the view and have the space to take a breath. With beautiful views from nearly every room and multiple deck and balcony vistas, you really can get lost here. Entire house boasts close to 3500 sq FT inside space, deck, backyard with entertainment area, BBQ and picnic spots abounding. We are very close to the Columbia River, Washington border, My St. Helens, etc. The Amtrak stops in Kelso WA and will take you up and down the coast for exploring. We also can reference some great guides and resources if you wish. What makes this spot truly amazing is the park-like setting, amazing views of wildlife, and being able to get out and enjoy a getaway that is about 55 min away from so many adventures. We travel and work mobile and stay here off and on through the year, but like to have a place to have our family gatherings a few times a year. We do keep a small apartment in the downstairs, so some areas are off limits. We are usually here on and off tending gardens or enjoying the sunset as well. These are separate quarters and you will not be bothered, and we appreciate your experience and wish you the same enjoyment that we get every day. Two Large floors and lots of place to have a moment. We do have some stairs as the house is multi level This works well for sharing space and also separate space to play cards away from the big game or people sleeping, there are potential sleeping arrangements and bathrooms on each floor to assist. Main floor has a small office in the front entry with a couch and TV. The main floor is great for entertaining and is very open with hardwoods and tile. Large dining room with seating and a sun room with lots of windows leading to a small deck for an outdoor sunset. Kitchen has traditional setup and convection oven/Dishwasher. We stock the kitchen with equipment and utensils. Usually, we have some basic ingredients-cooking oil, rice and starches, seasonings, and such, but there is a good store close to the location. We can also arrange to make available some of the fresh garden items we produce here on the property if in a pinch. BBQ setup outside and seating for picnic with large table. We offer some outdoor cooking opportunities during the season depending on interest and availability. The top floor has 3 Queen bedrooms with a shared bath There is also a larger Master bedroom at the end of the hall with a private bath and small office area. We keep the upstairs space dedicated to sleeping, so only the master has a television, but all rooms have good WIFI for streaming. The Master and one Queen have an adjacent balcony area for outdoor view The Studio area is set up with a reclining couch set, chairs, and a TV/Sound system for media. It has a great view, is somewhat separate from the rest of the house-great for getting away from the rest of the group for a show or music. We are big fans of taking memories and leaving footprints, sharing these views and the peace and quiet of this area. We are not really set up for large or loud parties, as we do have some proximal neighbors and like to limit the impact to the property. For the right group, and from personal experience, this place is legendary. Entire top floors and backyard, patio and BBQ area, trees and garden/orchard area I provide a great space, your side is to return it without large changes or cleanup needed. Having your guests kick off shoes to reduce dirt and being mindful of cleanup will help make the exit easy. I will provide detergents and cleaners, Clorox wipes and such if you have a mess. When you depart please strip beds and place into laundry chute. There is a local cleaning agency if you stay for longer periods that you can retain if you do not wish to clean prior to departure. We do have a professional cleaner come help with resets, She and her family have been our associates for the last two years It's hard to travel and be nomadic sometimes, this is the best of both worlds. Kind of like glamping, but with better WiFi and sleeping space. I like to give you as much space as you like so you can enjoy the experience of the property and your visit. I travel quite a bit and want to help host others to be able to see new things and experience fun times that make memories. If you do have an interest in a special event we do offer additional packages like food and or entertainment. We also host classes and discussions on food, wine, bakery, health and wellness, sustainable farming to name a few. These are inherent to our personal pursuits and are when available, but our Artisan pizza demo is amazing. I do expect we work together to be sure we align expectation and return the property as you found it so the next guests or friends can enjoy when they arrive. It's an amazing place to get away for breath or two. Local things to do close to Rainier Oregon- The lower Columbia River Valley and Delta are amazing for the slower water, great expansive views, and lots of islands on the river, great hikes, and fishing spots to explore. We are about 45 min to Astoria on the coast for great marine experience, 45 min to Mt. St Helens Volcano National Park and about 45-60 min to Portland Or. The local town is small but has good amenities, grocery gas, supplies etc. If you need more options, the town of Longview and Kelso are close across the bridge and hosts several larger stores and community options. Rainier Cornerstone café-great small diner with breakfast and sandwiches Interstate Tavern-Fantastic Dungeness crab cocktails and oysters to go, nice pizza and sandwiches also Hometown Pizza-good local pizza place with some fun options Grocery Outlet-Rainier -Great selection of items and nice beer and wine selection. Longview- Safeway and Fred Meyer for groceries and supplies Hop N Grape Brewpub for great beers and wines-BBQ menu and nice snacks Kirby Fish market-Kelso north-Best seafood chowder-its amazing-also seafood for sale to take home Outdoor Adventures Lewis, Kalama, and Cowlitz rivers all have great spots to float or tube and are calm and safe. Great access on all through some ramps and docks along each river. Columbia River on our side has several beaches that one can pay a 5.00 day use fee and enjoy all kinds of space, water is nice and calm mid-summer, but it is cold. Great to have an extra air mattress or floats and enjoy. Please be cautious of the cold water and currents!! If you do go driving on the bech sand, be advised to have all wheel drive or stay on the firmer spots, easy to get stuck. Hiking cannot be beat up around Toutle Washington. This north access to Mt. St. Helens is a great day trip, Coldwater lake has a couple day trails, and the actual north side blast zone is worth a trip. South side through Woodland Washington and up the Lewis River valley is also great with Ape Caves and some super neat eastern views of the range. Both areas are open June through October, rain or shine its amazing!! West of here is Astoria about one hour, great beach access in Gearhart or, where you can drive out onto the beach. Across the Astoria bridge north is Long Beach Washington, oyster capital of this area, Lewis and Clark center, Fort Steven's and Fort Astoria. Great Snacks all around this area too! North from Astoria is the southern Olympic area of Washington, temperate rainforest and beautiful views. Great spots for picnic and then you can return using Ocean Beaches HWY on the WA side of the Columbia river. In the Puget Island area there is a ferry ride across the Columbia, highly recommend the ride back to Clatskanie OR. Weather in the area can run a little cooler due to the proximity of the Columbia river and the coast. Occasional misty rain even in summer in the morning is wonderful, and makes the air fresh. I do host simple accommodations, but the space and ability to get out of town with some friends is a value to be noted. Given proper notice bday cakes and special orders or catering is available, we are closely networked with some great Portland Culinary Talent and happy to share
