Vineyard Mansion - Benjamin Room
Vineyard Mansion & Carriage House - Benjamin Room
Welcome to the Benjamin Room at the historic Vineyard Mansion. This property was built in 1890, by the famed architectural firm of Eckel and Mann, for Benjamin R. Vineyard, who was a prominent attorney in St. Joseph. Although divided into apartments in the 1940's, it has recently been restored to its original use and we are ready to welcome guests to relax in the splendor of the Gilded Age. The namesake of the Benjamin Room is the original owner, himself. This spacious room features a king bed with sumptuous linens, a comfortable seating area, and a walk-in closet. Additionally, the en suite bath lets you admire the antique, pedestal-style sink, while relaxing in the gorgeous, claw-foot tub. The Vineyard Mansion property is situated within the Museum Hill Historic District, an area of St. Joseph well-known for its stunning, Victorian-era homes. A stroll through the neighborhood affords the observer beautiful examples of Italianate, American Foursquare, Queen Anne, Tudor Revival, Second Empire, and Bungalow/Craftsman style architecture. The property is also within walking distance of multiple attractions, including restaurants, bars, art, culture, parks, and the St. Joseph Museum, located just across the street. Guests booking now enjoy a discounted rate, as we are still restoring some sections of the property. So you not only get to pocket some savings, you get to see a bit of the restoration process, in action.
