Classy Home in Historic Center
You are looking at a very large and opulent, 3 bedroom colonial house on one of the most famous streets in Guanajuato - perfect for a family or friends who are travelling together. Just steps from the Alhóndiga de Granaditas, Plazuela San Fernando, Diego Rivera Museum and the Mercado Hidalgo and a few minutes walk to Plaza de la Paz, Teatro Juarez and the Jardin Union, the house is hugely comfortable, brightly colored, and filled with art from all over the world. Also nearby are delicious restaurants, folk art stores, cafes, galleries, museums, and 3 plazas where spontaneous performance and/or music frequently occur. The house includes an overly large living room with two sitting areas, street view balcony, formal dining room, TV room, kitchen with breakfast area, three spacious bedrooms, upstairs patio, rooftop observation deck, 2 master bathrooms and one ½ bath. There are 2 king size beds, and 2 twins (can be king, please ask). Also included in the rental are wifi, satellite TV, DVD player, drinking water, well-equipped kitchen, linens and daily maid service. This house is situated on a main street making it convenient for taxi service and easy and safe walking just right outside the door. On many evenings, the famous estudiantinas walk past the house on their callejoneadas filling the house with robust songs and music – an experience that never fails to draw you out onto the balcony to wave at the parade of joyous followers. We sometimes call the house La Casa de la Risa – the funhouse, because it's a place with it's own amusement – both inside and out. We hope our renters come with a sense of curiosity and humor as Guanajuato (and Mexico) has a different kind of spontaneous and often humorous atmosphere. The house is perfect for artistically minded people who want to experience the vibrancy of Guanajuato, yet still have space and tranquility at the end of the day. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. ** No pets and no smoking in the house. Entire house The house is at the end of calle Positos near the Alhóndiga and around the corner from the Mercodo Hildago. Calle Positos houses a number of museums, most famously the Museo Diego Rivera - the house where Rivera grew up as a child. El Jardin Union, Teatro Juarez, Plaza de la Paz, and the Basilica are all within a 5 minute walk. Nearby are several good restaurants, folk art stores, convenience stores and a large grocery store. True to typical Guanajuato architecture, this is a three-story house with the main living areas on the 2nd and 3rd levels. The stairways are made of stone and plenty wide with a fairly low rise and railings, however people who have limited mobility may be challenged with so many steps.
