Summary: This is the most adventurous site in the park! Accessible only by canoe or kayak, your experience will begin as soon as you park the car. This site has unbeatable views of Lake Pontchartrain and provides a perfect location to disconnect and reset. Only a 10 minute paddle from the launch site, you can spend your days looking out over the lake, playing on your private beach - on the clearest of days, you just might see New Orleans in the distance. In the evening, enjoy your own private deck to marvel at unparalleled sunsets, and spend your nights sitting by the fire looking for shooting stars. *IMPORTANT* Please note, campers must either bring their own canoes/kayaks, or rent them before arriving at the park. Located on the north shore of Lake Pontchartrain only one hour from New Orleans, Fontainebleau State Park was once the site of a sugar cane plantation. Today, Fontainebleau State Park offers 2800 acres for campers to enjoy and explore. Fontainebleau is surrounded by water on 3 sides and provides countless options for activities, including fishing, boating, swimming and sunbathing on the sandy beach of Lake Pontchartrain. There are nature trails to hike and explore - keep your eyes open for the many different types of birds who make their homes in the park! There is an old railroad track that has been converted into the Tammany Trace by the Rails to Trails program, which serves as an excellent path for biking, walking or inline skating. This campsite is equipped with a pre-set sturdy canvas tent on it's own wooden deck platform. The tent is furnished with a queen-size memory foam mattress, side tables, and a propane tent heater. A picnic table, fire pit with a grill, a solar shower, and portable camp loo are also provided, and campers are able to use the park's restroom facilities as well. There is an additional pop up tent provided for extra guests, but you will have to bring your own air mattresses/sleeping pads for this tent. The Space: Lakefront park with beach and trails Other Things to Note: Be sure to bring your own food, firewood and bedding. We do not provide boats so you must bring your own or you can rent from Bayou Adventure in Lacombe. There are no electricity or water hookups available at your Tentrr site. Anything you pack in, you must pack out. This is "leave no trace" camping. All trash MUST be deposited in a designated receptacle at the end of your stay. If you do not follow this rule, you will be charged a cleaning fee. Have a wonderful stay!
