Begin your stay with a scenic, nearly mile-long winding drive that stretches through the peaceful, wooded dunes. The woods open up to the elevated view of Lake Michigan. This cozy cabin on the hill is easy to spot from the lake with its large deck that wraps around the Lakeside. On a clear day, you can spot the Big Red lighthouse! Enjoy our new Fire pit overlooking Lake Michigan, marked hiking trails on the private 60 acres , a kayak, and SUP board for endless fun outdoors. Relax inside or on the deck with a book and perfect view of the Lake. Wake Robin offers all the amenities of home and has been designed with this historic cabin's original charm. ***Neighboring the Wake Robin Writer's Cabin is "The Main House." Both properties can be rented together for a discounted rate, or rented separately. Stairs, yard, firepit and beach are shared but both homes have plenty of privacy. We will keep our guests posted on the condition as requested. The Writer's Cabin, which was originally the guest house and writing studio of Paul De Kruif, a noted author, was just remodeled in 2017. The home can accommodate a total of 6 people with its 3 bedrooms combined and 2 bathrooms. After being a private residence for several decades, we are excited to share the magic of Wake Robin's Writer's Cabin for your family to relax, unwind, make memories and discover the best that Michigan's west coast has to offer. ~There is a complete kitchen and seating area that overlook the private deck and a view of Lake Michigan. Our cozy banquette has a view of the lake and a coffee cart. ~The master bedroom is located upstairs and has a large closets and bathroom attached. Washer and dryer located in master closet. ~There are two guest rooms on the main floor. The Bunk Room has a bunk bed and a twin bed with a dresser for storage. It can sleep 2 adults comfortably, or 3 kids. ~Guest Room #1 has TWO TWIN beds that can be converted into ONE KING sized bed. There is a small collection of books by Paul De Kruif, the original owner of the property. A sink and mirror are also located inside this room. ~A full bathroom is located on the main floor off the living room. ~A large deck wraps around the Lakeside of the home with plenty of seating and a beautiful view. ~Full kitchen with full-sized appliances, including a Keurig and Regular Coffee Maker. ~Air conditioning is not available, but windows and fans are available in every room. Baseboard heating and electric fireplace are also provided. ~If you have small children, we have plenty of supplies. Please let us know ahead of time what you need so we can have it available: Pack n' play, Cradle 'n Swing, tub, bouncer seat, activity mats, high chair, booster seats, plastic cups and plates, basketball hoop, and many board games and outdoor games. We have a tree house and swing set just outside the cabin, along with lots of other toys for older children as well. ~Marked trails and plenty of private wooded area to explore and walk around the Lake Michigan shore.
