Suches is surrounded by the Chattahoochee National Forest making the cabin an ideal location for any outdoor enthusiast. Walk 5 minutes to the trailhead from the cabin where you can explore all day on the AT. Hike from the cabin to Blood Mtn, Woody Gap, Lake Winfield Scott, Jarrard Gap, Slaughter Creek, Dockery Lake, Preaching Rock, etc... Motorcyclists come explore Two Wheels, mountain bikers and fisherman come explore the Cooper Creek/Rock Creek area. The possibilities are endless. Adorable remodeled tiny cabin with a large screened in porch with fireplace. Enjoy the mountains of North Georgia in Suches " The Valley Above the Clouds" which has an elevation of 3,000 ft. Sit on the porch swing and enjoy the wood burning fireplace in the evening and listen to the sounds of owls and hummingbirds. Star gazing can be spectacular hear in the mountains. We are on a one lane circle drive. Please follow the one way sign. You can walk to the Appalachian Trail from our cabin and enjoy the trail all day. We live one mile away and can answer questions, and possibly lead hikes if we are available. Need a ride back to cabin from Woody Gap or Neels Gap instead of a RT hike? Give us some notice and for a small fee can arrange to pick you up. The cabin is within walking distance of the Blood Mountain Wilderness Area and the Appalachian spur trail Henry Gap. Hike north on the trail towards Blood Mountain/Neels Gap/Lake Winfield Scott or south to Dockery Lake/Preaching Rock/Woody Gap. The grocery store is 30 minutes away down the mountain. Please arrive prepared and fully stocked so you don't need to make an extra trip to the store. The Dahlonega Wal-Mart will be the last grocery store if you are heading north from Atlanta. We do have neighbors that sell eggs locally, just let us know if your interested. Helen is about a 45 minute drive from the cabin. Lake Winfield Scott is about one mile away and Vogel State Park is eight miles away. There are eight large stepping stones that you need to walk down to get into the cabin. Please note the pathway picture. The area will be well lit for those checking in at night. Please let us know your planned arrival time so we can have the porch lights on. The cabin was built in 1966 and therefore the floors have had some settling over the years. The large porch was added to the tiny cabin in 2020 and a wood burning fireplace in April 2021.
