The Tiny Home is located along the Great Northern Rail Line in Essex, MT. Essex is a remote mountain community sitting halfway in between East and West Glacier on the southern boundary of Glacier National Park and the northern edge of the Great Bear Wilderness. The tiny home provides a great place to escape the hustle and bustle of life! Originally built in 1950, the Essex Tiny Home is full of charm, provides great access to the surrounding area, and is a relaxing place to come home to. DOWNSTAIRS: The first floor includes a living room, kitchen, and 3/4 bathroom. The kitchen is well stocked with new apartment-sized appliances, and perfect for cooking homemade meals. The living room has restored original hardwood floors and comfortable seating group. The swivel chair is especially great! UPSTAIRS: The steep ladder-like stairs leave from the middle of the house, and wind up to the loft bedroom. The loft has a platform queen bed, ample storage for clothing, and wireless charging bedside lamps. The peak ceiling height in the loft is low ~5 ft . Guests will have access to the entire tiny home and yard. There is enough room for two cars in the driveway. We live about an hour away but can be available if needed. The Izaak Walton Inn is open year round and is walking distance (.3 miles ) from the Tiny Home and serves breakfast, lunch, dinner, and has the flagstop bar. From the Inn, if you take the walking bridge over the tracks you can access the cross-country ski trails in the winter that are also great hiking/biking trails in the summer. Parma Drive, the road that the house sits on is a great place for a quick stroll. The Amtrak passenger train station is located just behind the Tiny House and is a great way to arrive. Rental cars are available through the Izaak Walton Inn. Uber, Lyft, and some shuttle services are available throughout the Flathead Valley. We are happy to help if you have logistical questions. PLAN AHEAD Essex is a remote community. Please plan ahead before arriving with driving directions, address, gas and buying groceries. There are NO groceries available in Essex, the closest grocery store is in Hungry Horse and Browning. During the summer months June-August there are limited groceries available in East and West Glacier. NO CELL SERVICE at the Tiny Home and between East Glacier and West Glacier, including Essex. However, our Starlink internet provides fast reliable internet and allows one to stay connected. TRAIN NOISE is a part of life in Essex, expect 1 train per hour. We do provide ear plugs and white noise machines. LOW ceilings in the loft. The peak height is about 5'. BEAR SPRAY is provided for you to carry while hiking in the Spring, Summer, and Fall.
