A tranquil paradise near downtown Monterey offers the perfect place to relax, refresh and renew, with a private spa area featuring an in-ground Japanese soaking tub and meditation room, and a garden where you can sit and enjoy the sounds of a fountain and the sight of flowers, birds and butterflies. This hidden gem, a 3-bedroom, 1-bath cottage in a commercial area, is within walking distance of the beach and the Monterey Peninsula Recreation Trail, which offers stunning views of the bay as you walk or bike the trail. Tall hedges hide the cottage from the street, giving it a secluded feeling, and walls around the spa area offer complete privacy. This 800-square-foot home is a perfect place to enjoy the best of the Monterey Peninsula, such as historic Old Monterey, Cannery Row and the Monterey Bay Aquarium. It’s just a 10-minute drive to other attractions, like quaint Carmel-by-the-Sea or world-class golf and sightseeing in Pebble Beach®. Wine tasting and shopping are just 20 minutes away in Carmel Valley, and the natural wonders of Big Sur are about 40 minutes away. Comfortable, eclectic beach décor gives the cottage a cozy feeling, with unique furnishings in every room. The 1920s-era home has undergone numerous renovations over the years so that it offers modern conveniences while retaining its vintage character. Pets are welcome upon owner’s approval. Upon your arrival, you will be greeted with complimentary chocolates and wine or sparkling cider and a basket of local information. An assigned concierge vacation house manager is available to assist you during your stay. We have also provided spa amenities in the bathroom, as well as spa robes, and beach gear with everything you need for a day at the beach, including chairs, blankets, towels, umbrella and cooler. Guests enter the home along a flagstone garden path, which leads past birch trees and flowers to the front door. Patios at the front and side of the house feature bistro seating and comfortable outdoor furniture near a grape arbor and a modern fountain. A gas grill is available for outdoor barbecues. The front door opens into the living room, which features a gas fireplace, décor in tones of coral, blue and sand, and upholstered seating, hardwood floors and a Bluetooth speaker. On the other side of the living room is a fully equipped kitchen with a smooth-top electric range, pot rack, and a unique “chalk wall” that guests are invited to write on. A wooden dining table seats four. Bedrooms share the fully remodeled bathroom, which has a tub-shower combo, custom stone tile, and colorful glass pendant light fixture. Two bedrooms are off the living room with views of the garden, and the other is close to the Zen Spa. Each bedroom features a 30-inch HDTV, with one a Roku, from which guests can log on to their Netflix, Amazon and other streaming channels. The garden bedrooms feature a twin daybed and a full-size bed with wooden headboard. The other bedroom offers a queen bed with fabric headboard, an armoire for storing items, and bedside lamps. The private Zen Area is just a few steps from the back door, with in-ground soaking tub, an outdoor shower, fire pit, outdoor refrigerator, and comfortable rattan seating, an ideal spot for relaxing, meditating and decompressing. A fountain and bamboo garden area add to the ambiance. A stacked washer and dryer are available in the laundry room. There are two dedicated parking spaces directly in front of the cottage. There is an additional fee for pets. **Guest stays of 30 days or more will also be responsible for utility charges (Electricity, Gas and Water), mid stay cleaning fees and a security deposit.**
