“The Nest” tranquil 3BR+loft cottage of connection
"The Nest" a tranquil 3BR + loft cottage for connection
"The Nest" is my first home. This tranquil cottage has become a vacation home for me and is designed as a rental for you, to encourage connection, growth, and rejuvenation. Let it be your safe space when you want to turn off the computer, put down the phone, and escape the challenges of everyday life and work. The Nest is professionally managed, fully certified, and ready to host you and yours. My time at the Nest has provided me with nourishment, and it is my distinct pleasure to share this healing home with you. Make it your place to convene with friends and family, nurture creative time with colleagues, or take deserved time for introspection. It is designed as an oasis to foster connection with yourself and others by focusing on conversation, reading, cooking, games, relaxation, outdoor activities, building fires, and riding bikes. Nestled in the heart of historic St. Elmo, Chattanooga, it is a short walking distance from major tourist attractions, such as the Lookout Mountain Funicular Railway. To take you on farther journeys, you can enjoy the four professionally-restored classic bicycles whose refurbishment funded a transit equity non-profit in Birmingham for those most in need. Of course, all you need may be within The Nest's walls, large front porch, private back porch swing, outdoor fire pit, and generous yard. The Nest is a four-bedroom, one-bathroom home (admittedly, I hope to add another bathroom one day, and the proceeds from your stay will help fund that). The downstairs has two large bedrooms with Queen beds. One has an attached smaller walk-in-closet and both have ample armoire space. The upstairs bedroom is designed for young families and has a Queen bed and a fairy-lit sleeping nook for little ones. The nook is even cuter in person and serves as a nice adult morning meditation or reading spot as well (I use it for that during my stays). The fourth bedroom is a convertible movie den/bedroom with two couches, one of which pulls out to a Queen bed. The wall-mounted TV (no TV service, just movies -- this is a place to digitally detox and connect with real humans after all!) serves as a great place to cozy up with your friends, family, or coworkers to share a flick. The house has a large open format kitchen fully-stocked with all the best cookware and cooking toys. How many vacation rentals are set up to sous vide and immersion blend?! Adjacent to the kitchen is a small tea room that I adore in the mornings, complete with a full washer/dryer and ironing board. Outside is a large format front porch to sip wine and strike up a conversation with the friendly neighbors. The side yard has a porch swing (my FAVORITE!), and a small grill for cooking. There is an outdoor fire pit and plenty of space to play, do yoga, or just enjoy the warm sun. For the brief work interruption or a place to focus and write, there is a quiet office off the den/bedroom with great lighting. The gathering spaces in The Nest are second to none, designed with beautiful details and comfy seating for dinner parties, board games, and stimulating conversation. Yes, there are games and reading (lots of travel books!) waiting for you. I designed the entire home on a drive from my primary residence in Aspen, Colorado. I rented a box truck one way and antiqued my way through every state on the way to Chattanooga. As such, The Nest is awash in warmth and history from Colorado, New Mexico, Texas, Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama, Georgia, and Tennessee. I hope you love The Nest as much as I do. Please treat her with respect and kindness, and she will return it to you and yours many-fold :- ) All suggestions and ideas to improve The Nest are encouraged and ALWAYS WELCOME - Just like YOU!
