Come rest on 2 acres of Lake Ann frontage or explore all that northwest Michigan has to offer. Our 2 bathroom 3 bedroom (one area is a loft with 2 queens) cottage features a large deck overlooking clear Lake Ann waters. Stay and enjoy the space or explore the local brewery; fish Lake Michigan or off the dock; shop & dine in Traverse City; visit the quaint village of Leland; hike Sleeping Bear Dunes; find a favorite golf course or tour the wineries and breweries. This is the center of it all. Offering the peace and seclusion of two acres on the clear waters of beautiful Lake Ann, this Harris Point Cottage may be just the place when time away is needed. Driving into the property via a private road and a winding "two-track" driveway, it's immediately clear that this can be a place just to be together and wind down from hectic routines. Respite can be found living in the woods for a week, fishing on the dock, swimming at the sandy beach area in the clear, cool waters; coffee on the deck in the morning; wine in the evening; a campfire near the water; hearing trickling water making its way from the waterfall feature at the top of the hill over a stony path down the hill to the awaiting pond and the friendly goldfish swimming therein. Special treats come when the nearby nesting Bald Eagles fly near the beach or the local pair of Loons--if you're lucky with their young ones--are seen fishing or heard singing those haunting calls after dark. A variety of ducks, geese and songbirds all call this area home. And sometimes the small whitetail deer herd visits the shore at dusk feeding on the greenery--too often the Hostas planted in the terraced garden areas that decorate the hill. If you're looking for a polished, professionally landscaped and groomed property with golf course quality lawns this is not the place for you. But if a place of respite on 200 ft. of lakeshore is of interest then this may fit the bill. The cottage itself is approximately 2100 square feet. Built in 1983, walking through the entry door to the cathedral, tongue and groove pine ceiling gives a sense of being "up north". The open-concept newly remodeled kitchen boasts all new stainless-steel appliances, new cabinets and granite countertop. Sharing the same space, the living area features a floor to ceiling fireplace. A newly carpeted loft area provides two queen size beds. The master bedroom with direct access to the 48 by 12-foot deck contains a king size cedar log bed and shares the master bath and closet. On that same floor--stepping through glass siding doors--a sunroom provides another relaxing space for guests to enjoy the views of the lake. The kitchen and living areas are dominated by the picture window and the glass sliding door through which the clear waters of Lake Ann come into full view. Walking through the glass sliding doors provides access to the large deck with a newly installed vertical cable safety rail. A table and chairs for 8 cater to meals enjoyed with good company. The lower level is a walkout basement with a newly poured patio beneath the deck. On that level you'll also find a bedroom containing a cedar log queen size bed, a full bathroom accessed by only a few steps through a newly remodeled hangout room where a washer and dryer are available along with a newly installed 82" Samsung SmartTV. A personal vehicle is definitely required to get around the area. Parking is plentiful on the property. During the summer, arrivals and departures are on Fridays due to cleaning schedule. In the off season there is more flexibility. Generally we have a contactless arrival. Access info will be provided and hosts will be accessible by text or phone as needs arise. An information guidebook is provided also. Given the cottage is located on 2 acres there is plenty of space between neighbors. We love the up-north, in-the-woods feel. The local pair of Loons make the place special, we think, as do the nesting Bald Eagles that frequently fly along the shore. The small Lake Ann village is also a treat. Further, we highly value the location as a result of its proximity to Leelanau peninsula wineries, creative breweries and distilleries; Lake Michigan charter boat fishing; the quaint Leeland fishing village and artsy Suttons Bay; wonderful restaurants and shopping in Traverse City, Old Mission Peninsula and environs; hiking Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park; sailing the incredible Grand Traverse West Bay; Petoskey stone hunting on Lake Michigan beaches; a plethora of golf courses and ski resorts; AND the Interlochen Center for the Arts just a short drive away. It's simply an area rich in opportunities to enjoy life. A vehicle will definitely be needed in order to get around the area.
