We are centrally located in Acadiana, so Lafayette, Breaux Bridge, Tabasco at Avery Island, Rip Van Winkle Gardens at Jefferson Island, the Shadows on the Teche, or the Atchafalaya Basin via Henderson are each about 20 minutes away. Come stay awhile! L' Evangeline was created with your comfort in mind--airy, cozy, familiar, light, quirky. Roy kept the structural integrity of this 1920 home intact while updating functionality and layout. The kitchen is very well-equipped and the laundry is brightly lit. The Bayou Teche is across the street and can be viewed from front porch rockers. The back door deck is shaded and cooled by our ancient oak. St. Martinville is home to the famous Evangeline Oak, as well as the third oldest church in Louisiana. The St. Martin de Tours was established by exiled Acadians in 1765. Several delightful places are within walking distance from the cottage. Grocery markets are conveniently located about a mile down our beloved LA 31 in either direction where Cajun sausages, boudin and peeled crawfish are sold--look for Louisiana coffee and crawfish.
