This comfortable room is on the second floor with a nice view into our back gardens. It has a private bathroom just out the door. There is a small writing desk and chair in the room. Space is available in the closet to store your belongings. As this room is in the home where we live, we request that prospective guests have a history of positive reviews. Unfortunately we do not have an option for check-in after 8:30. This home was built in 1948 to promote the movie "Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House" starring Cary Grant and Myrna Loy. We have updated it, but it is still known by long-time local residents as "the dream house". It rests on a large lot in a quiet neighborhood. We are eleven miles from the Mall of America for shopping, and the Twin Cities Premium Outlets Mall is also close by. Downtown St. Paul is quite close and downtown Minneapolis is about 14 miles. There are many cultural opportunities in the Twin Cities, from museums to theatres. Minneapolis is home to the world famous Guthrie Theatre and St. Paul boasts the Fitzgerald. There are many excellent restaurants of just about any cuisine that one would care to experience. The city of Minneapolis has three beautiful lakes that are lovely to drive around with many large older homes of the mansion variety for those who appreciate viewing architecture. In St. Paul you can tour the James J. Hill house and in Minneapolis The Swedish Institute is open for touring. The port city of Duluth is 150 miles north and makes a great day trip. It is well worth it to walk out on the causeway and perhaps view ships going through the lift bridge. In the winter you can try cross country or downhill skiing. We welcome guests to use our living room, dining room and to make themselves breakfast in our kitchen. There will always be cereal, milk, English muffins or bagels, bread, and breakfast bars on hand. Marjorie works at home and is usually available to help. South St. Paul is a quiet suburb, but near to the bigger cities. Our home has limited access to public transportation. A car will be your best bet and there is off-street parking. John works at home. The living room is his office from 9-5 so just be aware that he will need relative quiet in case of client calls. There is a cat on the premises in case allergies are an issue.
