TreeHouse: Berkshires chalet in sun-dappled forest
Summary: Book your summer getaway in the Berkshires now! ABOUT THE PROPERTY Enjoy your own, very private, post-and-beam, chalet-style tree house tucked into a tall, sun-dappled pine forest. The generous spaces include a great room that combines a large gourmet kitchen, dining area for 6, and spacious living room under the expanse of a triple-height cathedral ceiling. Each bedroom/sleeping area has its own full bathroom, so that everyone can enjoy the comfort of their own guest suite. Full-size washer and dryer are available for your use. The large screened porch with outdoor dining area and the deck with grill and lounge chairs are perfect for outdoor living in spring, summer, and fall (or ski storage in winter). The central location in the Southern Berkshires is ideal: only 8 minutes from Great Barrington, Hillsdale (NY), Catamount or Butternut Ski Areas, hiking in the Mt. Washington State Forest, Bash Bish Falls, and much more. Lounge on the screened porch, visit the nearby waterfalls and lake, or take in the culture, activities, and outstanding food offerings nearby. You'll be able to spread out and relax in this contemporary, airy tree house. AMENITIES You'll sleep soundly on comfy Tulo mattresses and crisp white sheets from Brooklinen; play your music on our Sonos speaker; and watch your favorite shows on Apple TV. You'll have open access to the house, screened porch, and grassy yard. Since we value privacy on our own travels, we generally give guests lots of space. But we're nearby and happy to help. Check out our house book for tips. The location of the Egremont Tree House is close to Great Barrington, which has several grocery stores (both gourmet and large supermarkets), outstanding restaurants, coffee and tea shops, shopping, yoga, and more. You're also close to hiking, skiing, arts and cultural institutions, and more. You'll need a car to get here and get around. But you can walk to the Old Egremont Country Store (only 0.2 miles away). While the house has moderate cell service with AT&T and T-Mobile, the Berkshires are full of cellular dead zones, so you may want to download the region's Google maps to your device prior to your arrival. WHAT TO EXPECT We aim to create a relaxing, enjoyable stay at The Egremont Tree House, so we've taken care of most of the things you'll need, including fresh linens and towels, basic toiletries, basic kitchen equipment, and some pantry staples (e.g. olive oil, salt, etc.). If you're planning a big meal, or need something more specific, please check the House Guide, which includes more information, helpful tips, and general guidelines for guests. WHAT TO BRING The Berkshires are a stunning mountain region with all of the awesome piers of nature. Winters can be cold and snowy. Even during the height of Summer, nighttime in the Berkshires can be quite cool. We suggest that you pack several layers, including sweaters and cold-weather clothes to ensure that you'll be comfortable. (Don't worry: we've included some wool blankets to keep you warm during your stay.) In warmer months, we advise that you exercise good judgment to avoid pests (e.g. ticks) and other potential risks in the great outdoors, so we recommend that you bring (and wear) long pants and tall socks, and apply insecticides like Permethrin to your clothes. WHAT TO DO WHILE YOU'RE HERE Whether you're visiting during the busy summer arts festivals or during ski season, you'll find plenty of things to do. We've assembled a list of our favorites in the House Guide, and we're happy to answer additional questions by text. IMPORTANT NOTES This is a smoke-free property. To ensure a safe and comfortable stay, the owners and of this property require that all guests sign a Short-term Rental agreement that clearly sets forth the terms and conditions of your stay. We provide detailed check-in information 5 days prior to your arrival, and we are pleased to answer your questions at any time.
