Aside from being an incredible retreat from the city, our cottage is also rich with history - having been built on top of the old Blairton mine (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) , prior to the formation of Canada ( "marmorahistory" or "Blairton mine" to learn more). In the area by the water, you can see the cliff face of the mine (now filled with a pond), and one of the rocks in our fire pit has a 'bore hole' from the time.
