The Lookout Welcome to The Lookout at Jack’s Mountain Preserve! This modern, custom built home features an open floor plan with uplifting natural light. It boasts the best of both worlds... wooded, natural privacy from the back deck with wild rhododendrons and mountain laurels and a scenic view of mountains, forests, pasture, and a beautiful golf course preserve from the elevated front deck. At the end of the day, enjoy a colorful sunset over the mountain, then settle around the fire pit for star gazing! Guests will have access to the upper floor of the home. There is a locked door at the bottom of the stairs that leads to the lower floor and the owners reserved space. The owners do NOT live at the home. We give our guests space, but are available within 24 hours for all communications. Located just 10 minutes from the quaint village community of Black Mountain, 25 minutes from downtown Asheville, and 20 minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway, this is the perfect home base for your western North Carolina experience. Located at the base of "the Black Mountains," Old Fort is a small, quaint town often called the "gateway to the west." Our central location also gives us proximity to many recreational activities beyond Jack's Mountain including Catawba Falls, Curtis Creek, Lake James, Lake Lure, Flat Rock, Boone, The Blue Ridge Parkway, Asheville, Black Mountain, Hendersonville, etc. We are both private community and a recreational destination for those who wish to vacation just out of the fray and yet desire many recreational options. Cottonwood Properties provides a "starter package" of consumable goods for your stay, which includes a limited amount of toilet paper, paper towels, dish soap, one dish sponge, dishwasher tabs (if applicable), and laundry pods or detergent. Our hope is for you to begin enjoying your stay as soon as you arrive, however, the items included in the "starter package" are not meant to last the duration of your stay. Please plan to pack or purchase items you may need beyond what is provided. Our check in time is at 4:00 p.m. and our check out time is at 10:00 a.m. We ask that you please be respectful of these times to allow our cleaning team to properly prepare the house and for the next guests to enjoy their stay as much as we hope you do! Adjusting either time may be possible, upon request and depending on availability, for an additional $50 fee. Failure to follow the check out procedures outlined in the house manual may result in a $50 fee. All doors and windows should be locked and all lights should be turned off prior to your departure.
