Columbine Cabin - a SkyRun Nederland Property BOOK WITH CONFIDENCE: Our most flexible policy allows you to cancel or change your reservation without penalty up to 14 days prior to arrival for all reservations made before April 30, 2022, regardless of arrival date. FOR YOUR SAFETY We are following CDC cleaning guidelines so we provide a safe home for you and your family. Please contact us if you have questions. Stay well. -Your SkyRun Nederland Team Little Cabin in the Big Woods! This adorable 650 square foot cabin boasts a kitchen that dates back to the 50's. Modern appliances nest between cabinets that are as old as the house. Many of the original furnishings now act as antique decorations to transport you back to the olden days while you rest in modern comfort with free wifi. Enter into the living space with the spacious kitchen to your right. The well-stocked "retro" cabinets will meet your culinary needs, and there are even cast iron skillets handy so you can cook up your meals "mountain-style". Stock the fridge with your favorite beverages and relax knowing that you don't even have to worry about putting a large block of ice into the "icebox" like they did in the 50's! They would be so jealous to know that you can get ice to magically fall out of the door on this refrigerator! Some of the original cabinet handles have a push lever that is hard to see but very helpful when opening the doors! After your meal, move seamlessly into the living room and relax in one of the overstuffed couches. The original rock chimney now houses a modern gas fireplace below, which is controlled by the thermostat and keeps the cabin cozy, and the modern day flat screen TV above. The little wood stove to the right is purely decoration and not hooked up, so please don't light a fire in it. The TV is equipped with Roku and there is a DVD player for movies. Next to the living room, find a cute little Game Nook. Sit yourself in the ice cream style high table and chairs and challenge each other to a rousing round of Pigmania! The antique decor is delightful and there is something around every corner. On your way to the bedroom, check out the old runner sled on the wall that the original owner's kids used to use! You can stay in this cabin for a while, as there is a lovely stacked washer and dryer ready to wash your clothes after a hike! On your right is the bathroom. Two of the fixtures in here are avocado green! 1970's! Such a throwback cabin. To find the light above the vanity, just peek behind the door. Enter a throwback bedroom with antique furnishings, many that came with the cabin. Relax in the comfy (modern) queen sized bed and read yourself into slumber. Or, if you just can't resist, go ahead and play Sudoku on your tablet. No worries. The outlets work just fine and we wouldn't tell a soul! A spacious 12x16 deck with a bbq grill offers outdoor seating to enjoy your meal immersed in nature. The well-kept yard is full of wonderful surprises like an antique plow, a "His & Hers" outhouse (not in use), an ancient washing station, a gas pump, old table saw, a seed spreader, etc. and even a hammock upon request! It's a magical space with natural beauty all around. The Columbine Cabin is named for the beautiful Colorado State Flowers that grow nearby in a large meadow. (They are protected by state law so please don't pick them!) The beauty of nature abounds around this cabin, as the land is mostly untouched by development. So quiet and serene. Make some fortune and history of your own! This quiet retreat is just ten minutes down the road from the gambling towns of Black Hawk and Central City. Here you'll enjoy gaming, entertainment, nature, and history with a unique Western kick. Then escape to your own space to dream of how to spend your winnings! (We hope, but we can't guarantee!) Plenty of free parking and complimentary shuttle service throughout the cities make true Western fun and adventure easy. You can explore Colorado's authentic past, enjoy outdoor activities like hiking or biking and experience world-class restaurants and casinos. All this, in a picturesque mountain setting like no other. These towns also have an assortment of museums, shops and antiques, and the Central City Opera House. One of the best opera houses in America (built in the 1887), this jewel is open for performances in summer or year round for tours. Come up for an opera, and make it a romantic getaway in the Columbine Cabin! Gilpin County Rec Center is ten minutes up the road with a large indoor lap pool, kids water play area and slides, an indoor running track, a full gym, fitness and free weights, and other games, like ping pong. Admission is just $5/person. Denver and Boulder are only 45 mins away and the quirky mountain town of Nederland, with it's famous Carousel of Happiness, coffee shops, and restaurants, and Eldora Mountain Ski area, is a 30 minute drive. Coming to Red Rocks for a concert? It's only a 45-minute drive away! There are literally 100s of miles of hiking and biking trails everywhere you go. If exploring outside isn't your thing, relax in your car and enjoy some nearby scenic drives. There is so much to do in the area for a stay of 2 to 20 nights, and the Columbine Cabin is the perfect place to call home while you are here. What to be aware of: - Authentic cabin windows can be authentically drafty.  You may have to snuggle with the blankets. - Sleeping for 3rd person is on a sofa in the living area (not a pullout). - Mountain internet speeds. Not horrible, but not like the city. - Expect limited or no cell phone service at the home. If your cellphone plan supports WiFi calling, you can make calls when connected to the internet at the home. - Parking is limited. One car fits well. What You'll Love: - Mix of modern convenience and antique ambience - Peace and quiet off the beaten path - Great base for exploring nearby mountain activities - 15 minutes to the Casinos or Nederland - One of the few mountain homes with A/C!
