The property has private trails that lead to NY state land trails. Hike for hours in privacy. Enjoy skiing in the winter, hiking when it's warmer, fishing, swimming holes, lakes, you name it! Several wonderful dining options in the town Windham, farmers markets & festivals and other excursions a short drive away or simply zen out at Fernwood! The Fernwood Chalet has 2 levels and 2 entrances. Enjoy nature and Mountain View's from every window in the house. This is a 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom home featuring a wrap around deck and hot tub off master bedroom. The design esthetic is updated vintage, mid-century with some quirky twists. Main floor entrance is off the deck. Walk into the perfect place to gather with your crew. Enjoy the open floor plan featuring kitchen/living room with wood-burning fireplace/dining room/loft. This great room features high ceiling and pine walls with large windows giving you the perfect chalet vibe. Smart Tv on mantle above fireplace. The Master bedroom and other king size bedroom and full bathroom on this level too. Master bedroom also has Smart TV. Kitchen is stocked with anything you would need and features a full coffee area (coffee pot, nespresso cappuccino maker and milk frother). Tea kettle and assorted teas provided as well. The kitchen has a dishwasher/instapot/toaster/ninja/mixer/baking pans/roasting pans/cast iron skillet/Dutch oven ... Second entrance is to the second floor below leading to the painted, fern adorned mudroom. Opposite the mudroom you will find the custom bar area with beverage fridges perfect for your aprés ski. Next to the bar area is another comfy living room with a large projector for your movie night! 2 more bedrooms on this level, one queen size and one twin size bunks. Full bathroom, and laundry room. Outside enjoy the the wrap around deck with full dining area, bbq, loungers and gas fire pit to enjoy sunsets, and during the summer beautiful flowers and ferns everywhere! Further out you will find a full fire pit area with Adirondack chairs, perfect for s'mores under the stars. Spa robes are provided for each guest :) Our water is from a natural spring and totally safe to drink, but some may prefer bottled. Up to you! We have great high speed internet, but cell phone service is spotty. You can always make phone calls with internet though! Dogs are welcomed. 2 dogs max, $75 fee applies for extra cleaning. ***PLEASE NOTE**** This is a country home so please be respectful of your trash and do not leave food out at night. There is a trash shed beside the house to sort recycling and store trash during your stay. This is the safest place for trash to keep bears and other pests away! You must remove all food and trash upon departure. The local Windham trash transfer is 10 minutes away. ****During winter months (November-March) you MUST HAVE 4 WHEEL DRIVE VEHICLE WITH WINTER TIRES. The house is located on a private, steep road!**** ***for summer bookings please keep in mind this is a mountain house so no central AC. We do have cieling fans for every room on the main floor and also portable AC units for upstairs bedrooms. This does help to cool off kitchen and living room. The second floor always stays very cool and fans are provided as well. Summer in the mountains means it gets cooler at night and no bugs!! and AC really isn't generally needed*** No hunting on property . Keypad entry, access to all 32 acres with a map of hiking trails Always available via phone/email/text Must have car! 4 wheel drive with winter tires during November-March ***DISCLAIMER*** ****PLEASE NOTE!****Must have 4 wheel drive vehicle with winter tires during winter months/ski season (November-March). Steep private road that leads to house !!! This is an absolute must!! -2 dogs max are allowed, pet fee of $75 per dog. During rainy/muddy stays please be aware and wipe pets feet before coming inside!! -this is a very kid friendly home. We have a pack and play with mattress, blow up pool, monitor, sound machine and toys. Please let us know if you want any of these items in advance!!! -NO SMOKING IN HOUSE -NO parties with visitors that aren't a part of the reservation
