River Overlook Retreat
River Overlook Retreat is nestled on a wooded hillside just uphill from the Shenandoah River in a secluded, natural setting. Crafted recently by an Amish builder (2019), our small yet cozy, two-bedroom cabin has new furnishings, decorations inspired by the outdoors and local artists, fully equipped kitchen, expansive porch and riverside deck where the view of the river is located. Relax in a rocking chair on the spacious front porch and listen to the peaceful sounds of birdsong and the meandering river. Stroll down to the water and take in the river view beneath the picturesque Massanutten Mountain. The river flows by tranquilly as you idle away your cares on the private riverfront deck. Enjoy a cheery evening around the fire pit. The shoreline provides access for wading, tubing, and fishing. PLEASE NOTE: No parties or gatherings. Only booked guests are allowed on the property. (Guests in violation will be asked to leave with no refund.) NO PETS VEHICLE ACCESS: All wheel or 4 wheel drive may be required in the event of snowy or icy conditions. Contact us through an inquiry or reservation request if you have questions. You have the entire cabin and the wonderful river front all to yourselves! We are available to assist with any questions or concerns. Enjoy the many attractions nearby in the Shenandoah Valley. Hiking is close by in the George Washington National Forest. The scenic Skyline Drive, Shenandoah National Park and Massanutten Resort are about a half-hour drive. Explore the river by kayak with one of the many outfitters in the area (check for availability). The historic towns of Shenandoah and Luray offer a variety of dining options. Tour the many local wineries, microbreweries and distilleries on the Shenandoah Spirits Trail.
