Cozy 1 Bdrm, Easy Walk to River, Crooked Steeple
Summary: Welcome to a cozy stay in our unique historic church building. Crooked Steeple Hall is an inviting place to stay while exploring Acadia National Park, Midcoast, Down East, and Central Maine. Great for a longer stay if you are a traveling professional working in the Bangor or Belfast area, special winter long-term rates. Original wood floors & charming details throughout. The kitchen is fully setup for cooking. The town itself is quiet, although many great options to explore are in 10-20 min. The Space: This 1 bedroom home is located in a historic church building, nestled in the backside of the 1850's structure. We offer special winter long-term rates. Full amenities including a kitchen stocked with plates, pans, the basics for cooking, locally roasted coffee and locally blended teas. This would be a great rental for a weekend, a week or longer. Fully furnished with books, games, and even toys for any kids that might tag along! Winterport is a very small town, it's nice to walk around in. You can walk along the town's sidewalks, view the river, visit local farms, go for a hike, or check out the local blueberry fields. We are not a bustling metropolis, but a convenient base to explore Winterport Winery & Penobscot Bay Brewery (1 min), Mt. Waldo (7 min), Blueberry Hill (10 min), Fort Knox & Penobscot Narrows Observatory (10 min), Bucksport (15 min) , Bangor (20 min), Belfast (30 min), Camden (45 min) & Rockland (1 hr), and Bar Harbor, DownEast Maine & Acadia National Park (1 hr 15 min) areas. There is a TV with HDMI hookup and a blue ray/DVD player (no cable) and wifi access. It also has Netflix, Amazon Prime, and a small cable TV selection accessible through the Amazon FireStick. Please note, the toilet and sink are in one room, while the shower is in another. We think of this as a convenience for our guests, however, some may not agree. We simply want our guests to be aware of the arrangement before booking. Early check-in or late check-out may be available for a fee of $100. Guest Access: Full access to the entire home, which is nestled in the backside of the building. 1 bedroom, kitchen, dining area, living room. 2 bathrooms- one with toilet and sink and the other with a shower. This home is air bnb only, you will have the whole place to yourselves! There is a TV with an Amazon Fire Alexa, HDMI hookup and a blue ray/DVD player (no cable) and wifi access. The Neighborhood: A very quiet, but one excellent restaurant within walking distance Wed-Sun. Another pizza and sub shop is open Monday-Saturday. Located on route 1A, so it has easy access to all Maine has to offer! Winterport is centrqlly located as a good home base to explore many points in Maine, however it's not bustling with activity. Please be aware of this when booking. If your are looking for a thriving nightlife or cultural center, you will have to drive 20 min from our Airbnb, or take an UBER or Lyft. Bucksport is less than 15 minutes, Bangor is 20 min, Belfast is 30 minutes and the drive to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park is a little over an hour. I would be happy to recommend local activities, like hiking, farm visits, dining, and more. Getting Around: Bring your car! Uber, Lyft, and local taxi companies are available. No public transportation in terms of bus or train. The village of Winterport's amenties, while few, are easily within walking distance, nothing more than 1/2 mile away from Crooked Steeple. Other Things to Note: The address is 176 Main Street (Route 1A) in Winterport, ME 04496. (Airbnb's system for some reason doesn't recognize it.) The driveway to the apartment is off of Kaler Street, turn onto Kaler, it's first driveway on your left. Since the space is in the backside of the building, cell phone reception can be spotty at times. Feel free to hop on wifi and contact us via the Airbnb app. As noted above, Winterport is a quiet town. It's a great middle point to many places in Maine, but you won't find a rocking nightlife here. Please also note, this is a church building built in 1850. It’s overall a large, old wooden structure and the suite is a small portion of the building. We are constantly making improvements but the character and age of this building mean it has quirks - including friendly critters that try as we might, we cannot keep totally out (that includes spiders, bugs, and sometimes, even mice). We recommend keeping food in containers, cabinets, and the fridge, rather than on the counter. If this sounds uncomfortable to you, we recommend a hotel for your vacation needs. Interaction with Guests: In general, I do not meet guests and may not even be in town during your stay. The door is a keypad entry, so you can come early or late, as long as that works with other guests. If you need anything, feel free to hop on wifi and contact us via the Airbnb app. (Since the space is in the backside of the building, cell phone reception can be spotty at times.)
