ARCADIA FARM COTTAGE - Luxury Bluegrass Retreat
ARCADIA FARM COTTAGE - Luxury Bluegrass Retreat on 384-Acre Gated Horse Farm
*THIS PROPERTY IS STRICTLY PET FREE DUE TO PROXIMITY TO HORSES Combine the luxurious comforts of a 5-star city hotel with the peaceful splendor of life on a Kentucky horse farm and you have the unique experience of a stay at Arcadia Cottage. The word “Arcadia” is often used to designate an idyllically pastoral place where one can be in harmony with nature. Aptly named, our Arcadia Farm is a majestic equestrian property located in the finest part of the Bluegrass countryside, about 12 miles north of downtown Lexington. The home, Arcadia Cottage, was built in 2018 by the current owners after they purchased the 384-acre farm from the Carrick family, who acquired it via land grant in the 1800s. The cottage sits on the original homesite, a high point of the property facing west, and all windows feature incredible views of the rolling green hills, paddocks, and Goose Creek to the south. Currently, the farmland to the north of Goose Creek is used for a mare and foal horse operation and the rest of the farm is used as a hay and wildlife habitat. In addition to the horses grazing in the paddocks, the farm is full of wildlife including red foxes, coyotes, deer, rabbits, raccoons, otters, geese, ducks, herons, turkeys and many songbirds. Upon arrival, you’ll enter from beautiful tree-lined Mount Horeb Pike through Arcadia Farm’s front gate (secured with a code) and follow the paved drive up a gentle incline to the cottage. There is a parking area at the top of the hill adjacent to the patio and side entry door. The property is full of thoughtful touches intended to honor the history of the farm and surrounding area, such as the stone steps that were brought in from an old bridge nearby and the bricks that make up the patio, which were reclaimed from block barns on the property. The patio has panoramic views and is the perfect place to enjoy the gentle Bluegrass breeze over a meal outside or gaze at the vivid stars at night. Inside, the luxury interior design has left no stone unturned. Equestrian style furnishings are perfectly suited to the surroundings and the kitchen features Bosch appliances and a beautiful custom table, made from wood from an old tobacco barn. All three bedrooms have flat screen televisions with Dish network, Tempur-pedic beds and pillows, additional fluffier pillows, and super soft bed linens including sheets and down comforters with freshly laundered duvet covers. The modern bathrooms feature heated towel bars and shower heads with handheld attachments. Both king bedrooms upstairs have ensuite bathrooms with glass walkout showers and the downstairs bathroom located off the entry hall services the twin bedroom with a tub/shower combo and a stacked washer/dryer behind custom cabinetry. The home has wireless internet, though we must warn, it is “Country WiFi” - aka, not high speed. If you require high speed for streaming or downloading, we recommend bringing a hotspot that allows you to create a faster WiFi network from the cell signal. Afar Magazine, a publication specializing in experiential travel named Lexington “one of the best weekend getaways in the United States” and a stay at Arcadia Cottage is a most authentic way to experience historic Lexington, the Bourbon Trail, and the idyllic glory of Bluegrass horse country. NOTES: The rental is for the main floor and second floor of the cottage. The cottage has a lower level owner's apartment that is locked off from the top 2 floors and accessible through a separate door on the opposite side of the house from the main door and patio. The owners visit occasionally on weekends to ride their horses and might be staying in the apartment during your stay. They do not use the patio or any other common areas and you probably won't ever know they are there! This home is not suitable for young children, but we welcome adult groups and young adult guests over the age of 15. Primary renter must be 30 years of age or older. This home is strictly not pet friendly and no animals of any kind be reasonably accommodated here.
