Welcome to the Suite @ 2nd Street! This charming space is a luxurious second floor conversion atop a bustling hometown business: 2nd Street Bakeshop & Coffee Co. Set in a fully renovated Victorian home built in 1885, we are only steps from historic downtown Hico and all of the shopping, dining & experiences it offers. Located at the crossroads of Hwys 281 & 6, we are also conveniently located to Tarleton State, Fossil Rim Wildlife Center, Dinosaur Valley State Park, & Rough Creek Lodge. If you are looking for a typical square hotel room, this is not the place for you. Our enchanting suite with a soaring bell-tower, angled ceilings in every room, and charm galore provides guests a private bedroom, living room, and bathroom to enjoy. Guests are also invited to share in all of the unique amenities 2nd Street Bakeshop has to offer: a fully stocked game room, sprawling patio, cozy porch swings, wood burning fireplaces and much more! The space: The bedroom - snuggle up in the comfy queen sized memory foam bed with luxury linens, enjoy a table with seating for two, and unwind with a smart tv with Netflix included. For those light sleepers who may notice the nearby highway, a white noise machine and fan are provided. The living room - enjoy your (included!) gourmet morning coffee and breakfast while lounging on the window seat in front of our 120 year old stained glass window. A twin sized daybed with additional twin sized trundle provide the perfect place to hang out or sleep additional guests. We also provide an adorable retro mini-fridge and microwave for your convenience. The bathroom - tucked into the eaves, you will find one of the most unique bathrooms you’ve ever seen. The glass inclosed wet room includes a shower* and a soaking tub that is perfect for relaxing with a candlelit bath. The common areas - during your stay, please feel free to enjoy our fully stocked game room, huge private patio, cozy living rooms with wood burning fireplaces, and additional dining areas and bathrooms. *height of shower head is ideal for guests under 6’ tall. The bath comes equipped with a handheld shower nozzle. Guests have unlimited keyless entry 24 hours a day via the side patio entrance door. Guests are also allowed to use the main entry door during regular business hours (8a-6p). Free parking is available on site. 2nd Street Bakeshop staff is available during regular business hours to address any questions or concerns. Our b&b manager is only a phone call or text away after business hours. We can also help you schedule in room massages, romantic dinners for two at the Historic Midland Hotel and Chophouse, and extra special add ons catered just to you. Ads ons may include breakfast in bed, champagne and strawberries upon arrival, custom made charcuterie boards, delicious one-of-a-kind cakes for your special occasion, and much more! Our location right in the heart of downtown makes it the ideal place to walk to any local destination, or bring your bikes and enjoy an outing down to the beautiful city park trail! We are a short 20-30 minute car ride to many other popular destinations. Price is based on occupancy of 2 people. Each additional guest is $25/night. WE LOVE YOUR PETS! Dogs are allowed by request with pre-approval. Please note there is an additional pet fee of $25/pet and a 2 pet maximum. Note: because we have a foodservice business downstairs, we must have a very strict pet policy. Under no circumstances can you leave your pets unattended on the property during business hours. After hours, pets may only be left alone upstairs inside a kennel. Pets are only allowed downstairs after hours or while walking in or out of the building. If your pets are downstairs with you after business hours, please make sure they are closely monitored and make no messes. We also recommend they remain on leash while inside the building. Violation of this may be met with a $100 fine or we may ask you to check out early. Feel free to allow your supervised, well-behaved pets off leash in our patio area or hang out with them on leash on our front porch.
