Experience beautiful sunrises, a symphony of birds and wildlife, and peaceful tranquility. Sunrise Cottage features an open floor plan for easy living and entertaining. Watch diverse wildlife including bald eagles, ospreys, herons, swans and pelicans while sitting on the screened-in porch overlooking the estuary and bay. 2 adult bikes, 2 youth bikes, 2 sit-on-top kayaks are available for guests. A short walk around the estuary leads you to a private, community beach on the Chesapeake Bay where you can sunbathe, put in kayaks, and search for shells and beach glass. Sunrise Cottage is a sanctuary for families with small children, couples and friends looking for a special place to retreat, relax and get back to nature. Wireless internet, board games and a wood-burning stove make it as enticing in winter as in summer. Each season brings new delights for the nature enthusiast. Nearby points of interest include Point Lookout state park, an easy 20-minute bike ride from the cottage. This prominent Civil War site hosts miles of protected land set aside for biking, kayaking, boating, fishing and camping as well as a museum that provides a historical perspective on the region. Charter a boat at one of the many local marinas for a day of fishing. Catch your own crabs on a nearby creek near Hays beach, a short walk from the house, or kayak through Deep Creek lake for wildlife viewing and serene nature. A short road trip to historic St Mary’s City, the original capitol of Maryland, is a delight with abundant walks and history, or take a 30-minute drive to Leonardtown or Solomons island for a special day out, dining and shopping, alongside nearby state parks with walks and water access. If you are a lighthouse enthusiast, you will be pleased with the many marine landmarks nearby.
