Hey Y'all!, we are offering a small shack (which is actually scheduled to be a portion our Boy Barn). It's 10x12 feet and furnished with a daybed that has two twin mattresses. There's a retro DVD TV, mini refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, and hot plate. For the bathroom there's an outdoor half bath with plumbing on the back deck of our home, (which is a bit of a climb up our driveway). You can also access the internet in that area. There's a private bonfire behind the shack for your use. The shack is built with sawmill lumber and reclaimed pallet wood. It's a small room with electricity and running water from a spring on our property. (Note-the water is accessed from behind the shack and is not inside your sleeping area). You have use of a private fire pit area and a small covered deck with a hammock and a second covered area with an outdoor grill area. Their is a flush toilet and cold water sink on the back deck of our home which is at the top of our driveway-a bit of a hike. We offer firewood bundles for $4, fire starters for $2. We offer the shack in winter months but please note it is not insulated, we have a space heater and extra blankets from Nov-Feb Your area is accessed from our driveway and just before the gate to our farm. There is parking for one car directly in front of the shack. We live in bear country so we recommend leaving your food in the car or refrigerator. The fire pit is inside the field where our chickens, goats, donkeys and Kune Kune pigs roam during daylight hours. They all go to bed at sunset and you will have the field to yourself. We are hopeful that we will be available to show you around. Our days are full but we enjoy a quick visit with our guests We are near the little town of poplar and about 8 miles from the Tennessee boarder and the AT. Our nearby and highly recommended hikes are rock creek falls. (rated moderate, you will cross a creek 4 times and end at a beautiful waterfall, total of 5 miles in and out. Allow 3 hours). Another awesome hike along a waterfall is red fork falls. (Rated moderate, only a mile-It’s short but super steep on the climb up. Allow 1.5 hours plus your swim time) There’s Many spots for a swim or picnic. It’s a little hidden with parking for 4 cars. Once you park cross the river, continue and cross a second portion of the river and look for the trail to your right-it’s a bit hidden. The beauty spot is also an awesome stop for a sunset. For swimming and adventure take a ride on a gravel road-Sams branch Road, a narrow and twisted road-follow it until you are sure this can’t possibly be the right road and you will find some nice spots to access the river. This is maybe to rough of a ride for a sedan (You will cross the RR tracks and to the left). For eating out there's a good Mexican restaurant in Erwin (Los Jalapenos), In Burnsville (18 miles) we like Snap Dragon (Thia ribs)and Home Place (beer and pizza). We love the local country store (7 miles) called Griffiths general store, where you can buy everything from feed to coffee in Tipton Hill, and about a half mile past there on the left is a little local coffee shop that has organic everything and delicious smoothies (Seven Springs coffee shop). OpenThursday -Sunday You will need a car, Jeep, horse or feet to move around here. There’s no Uber or mass transit anywhere nearby. We are happy to provide you with farm fresh eggs and potatoes when in season.
