Tamarack: Spruce

Spruce is one of 3 private ensuite bedrooms atTamarack Bed & Breakfast, an 1828 Vermont farmstead & former coach stop in historic Shaftsbury, Vermont where you will enjoy expansive views of the Taconic Mountain range. In Winter months, your plush queen sized bed has 100% cotton flannel sheets & a fluffy down comforter with plenty of extra blankets. Tamarack has two additional bedrooms, Pine and Hemlock, which you could combine for a completely private wing of your own based on availability. Tamarack is a fantastic blend of an 1828 Vermont Farmstead with a cathedral ceiling post and beam addition that is an expansive great room with a 24 foot tall Rumford fireplace, red felt pool table, and numerous musical instruments for your use. You may also utilize the kitchen equipped with a wood burning pizza oven & 1920 wood fired stove. There is an outdoor fire pit, a deck, covered patio, and 15 acres of grounds to explore. The house is situated in a rural quiet setting surrounded by local farms, a lake, hiking, ski areas, artists, and music venues. You have access to common areas to play pool ( billiard table), utilize the entire kitchen, a marble bar, have a fire in the great room, have a bonfire outdoors, enjoy playing any of the numerous instruments: Piano, drums , banjo, bass, guitars, ukulele, mandolin. When our pond is frozen, we have numerous skates that you’re welcome to borrow, three sets of snowshoes, a toboggan, and numerous sleds which you can ride down the hills on the property. I value my privacy and keep busy with home projects chopping wood, tending to the fires, working in the shop or art studio. Rural, peaceful, quiet, private, easy walking out the door, 1/2 mile to Lake Shaftsbury, space, freedom. Nearest ski resorts: -20 mins to Prospect Mtn (cross country) -30 mins to Bromley -40 mins to Stratton -40 mins to Willard Mtn -55 mins to Mt Snow You need a car to get around. Bennington is seven miles south: cafes, restaurants, groceries, museums, art, live music, great local beer and a wonderful independently owned bookstore. Manchester is 35 min. drive north with shopping outlets, artist studios and the best bookstore. The Battenkill river is 15 min drive with world class fly fishing and kayaking. There are endless hiking opportunities, birding, foraging and enjoying the starry night sky. Please note: This is a vacation stay for adults. Minimum age is 19.
