The only rental of its kind east of the Rocky Mountains! Relax in the rustic single room cabin at the Gordon Firetower! This charming cabin is located at the historic Gordon Firetower. RV electric hookup available on site. You will need to bring everything you would on a camping trip. This is camping with style! There is a cleared area through a short trail for tent camping as well Moved to its current location August 8th, 2019, this well maintained cabin dates back to the 1930s. This cozy single room cabin features snowshoe rocking chairs next to an old time radio. Wood paneling and and open ceiling make this place feel right at home in the northwoods among the evergreens. The Gordon firetower is a 100-foot Aermotor, likely an MC-39 model. Originally built in August 1935. Gordon features a US Forest Service-style stairway. It overlooks the St Croix watershed and offers the most scenic view of ALL Wisconsin firetowers. Guests have access to the entire property. cabin, firetower, and immediate area. Self check-in. I prefer to let guests check themselves in and make this experience their own. Just message if you need anything or have any questions. I live 2 miles farther down the road and can usually be there quickly if needed. Overlooking the St. Croix River, a special area of the state. Its abundant streams, lakes and wetlands, rich forests and farmlands, wildlife and fisheries make this a popular recreational destination and location for living. The River begins in Upper St. Croix and Namekagon Lake and drains through diverse ecological landscapes. The landscape of the St. Croix River contains large swaths of unspoiled ecosystems and is in need of protection. Among its rolling barrens and brushlands are a plethora of wildlife, including threatened populations of sharp-tailed grouse and endangered Karner blue butterflies. The pineries of this region thrive and sustain communities with seasonal economic boosts from visitors who come for an array of outdoor activities. Guests would enjoy getting around the St. Croix River area with canoe, kayaks, bicycle, or atv. Options are only limited to what you bring with! The tower has no running water. There is a composting toilet in the cabin that is easy to operate. Drinking water will need to be brought with! Bring sleeping bags and pillows! chairs for around the fire. Coolers and paper plates for your meals. I guess it needs to stated after a couple of reviews: bugs, dirt, and wildlife do exist in this area. Please don't be surprised by it. This is sand county. The ground is made of sand. Simply walking into the cabin will bring in sand and possibly bugs. It is cleaned after every stay.
