Cozy Lake Zurich Home (Private Room&Bathroom)
WELCOME! My home is nestled in the 'burb of Lake Zurich close to shops and restaurants. About 6 miles from the BarringtonTrainStation which goes right into Chicago. You have a private bedroom & bathroom. My home is cozy, the star is the outdoor space: a huge deck, a huge yard w/ hammocks, & firepit. I have a golden retriever puppy who is so friendly and will be around. Prior to booking we need to have a conversation about COVID-19 protocols since this is a shared space. Non-smokers only **Please note that prior to booking we need to have a conversation about COVID-19 Protocols and I only take people who have been vaccinated since this is a shared space and I work with children** I completely gutted and remodeled my home and I love how cozy it turned out! On the first floor it's Farmhouse styling mixed with all the accents from my travels makes the home warm and inviting. Downstairs is boho, perfect cozy lounging area complete with pool table, bar, dart board, TV (with Netflix, Hulu, Prime), faux fireplace, and more. Your room is on the main floor, private with a private bathroom across the hall. The backyard is by far my most favorite spot. I have a HUGE deck, gorgeous trees, tree swing, hammocks and a fabulous fire pit. I spent a lot of time during the summer 2020 building a beautiful garden area, too. The primary bedroom is cozy- two windows let in lots of light- and also have blackout shades so you can sleep in. The bed is a queen-sized 10 1/2 inch memory foam mattress with a soft mattress topper. There is also a ceiling fan, a closet to hang your things, dresser and cupboards if you need drawers/shelves. My basement is a fun space! It has a bar, pool table, dart board, a faux fire place, a Smart TV, card table, cozy sectional sofa and a 6 foot bean bag! Perfect place for lounging or reading. The basement also has washer and dryer available for use (two loads of laundry per week stay). My sweet golden retriever, Atlas, loves to welcome people and is always around for snuggles and scratches! He is out of his crate during the day, so if you are at home during the day, he will be too and will likely want pets. I will also have a dog-walker who comes mid -day to walk him. The second bedroom/office is available by request only and needs to be pre-approved. It also has a twin-sized thick memory foam mattress on a twin bed. It is in my home office area and my belongings are there. There is a small space the closet for hanging clothes, and a small dresser for storing items. The desk is available and is a great work space. The extra room will be an extra $30/night if requested regardless if there are 2 or 3 guests. Please note there is NO SMOKING in or around my home. Not even outside or on the deck. This is a non-negotiable for me. Sadly, the hot tub bit the dust this winter (the heater went out, the water froze and cracked the pipes) so that is no longer an option to use. Please note that due to the size of my house it's just not possible for my dog to not be around- he is a great puppy, but he is energetic and snuggly so please be prepared for him to be around. He will never be in your room, but he is in all the shared spaces aside from the basement. Please let me know if you have questions about him! You will have access to the whole house except my bedroom and private bathroom. Kitchen has a gas stove for cooking- you provide all food, condiments, etc. Towels are provided for the bathroom as well as shampoo, conditioner and soap. I do have a washer and dryer. For each one week stay, you may do two loads of laundry. Laundry detergent is available. For long stays you will need to provide your own. Outdoor space is a wonderful retreat- there is a deck with table and a small chimnea. There are hammocks to use, and a large firepit. Please note there is NO SMOKING in or around my home. Not even outside or on the deck. This is a non-negotiable for me. Free coffee and tea available. :) I will give you your space if you desire, but my house is not huge, so we will bump into each other! I love chatting with others and learning about their travels. I do work during the day, but am often home around 3:30/4. 1/5/21 Update: I am currently working from home due to COVID-19 and we should have a conversation about social interactions with others outside of the home prior to booking. I've been pretty strict with social distancing outside of my family. 4/1/21 Update: I am back to work, and am vaccinated but I do work at an elementary school, just to let you know. My neighborhood used to be a lake retreat for the Chicagoland area. It now is a full time residential area. I live down the street from a school, the old oak trees are tremendous and so beautiful! Less than a mile walk to a cute restaurant on the lake. There is a walking loop around the lake that is roughly 3 miles. There are also some cute wooded trails (each about a mile) around the neighborhood. Very, very safe neighborhood- peaceful and quiet! The main thoroughfare, Rand Road (Hwy 12) is less than 5 minutes away. You'll need a car to get around as it's a typical suburb but with sprawling farms and forest preserves "in the way" of direct travel. You could uber or taxi if necessary. The Barrington train station is about 10-15 minutes away and can take you directly into Chicago. You'll need a taxi from O'hare unless you take the Red Line into the city and caught a train in Barrington (that would make for a long trip) Please let me know if you have questions! I'm happy to help! :) I do have a steep driveway as I'm situated on a hill. You will have a spot to park in the driveway- we will figure out the best way to park upon your arrival. In September 2020 I added the sweetest Golden Retriever, Atlas, to my home. Although he is now a year old- he's still such a goofy, energetic, sweet and loving puppy. He loves playing and snuggles.
