Victorian Farmhouse on 18 acre organic farm
Our farmhouse sits on a working 18 acre organic input produce farm. The house itself dates to 1868 and is a superb example of the eclectic Victorian style of the time. There are two guest bedrooms available; one features a king bed and the other a beautiful double daybed. Guests can also relax on two porches and a beach with a fire ring. We offer modern amenities with a tranquil touch. The bedrooms gets great natural light when desired, but has blackout drapes for those that prefer to sleep in. The windows overlook the pond. There are two porches (one with a swing) for relaxing and watching the sunrise. A hundred feet from the house is a Swiss-style barn with an attached granary. In the same area there are similarly red painted farm structures including a cabin and a house for goats who either stay in the lower area of the barn or outside when weather permits. The goats are very friendly and guests are welcome to pet and feed them. The barn cats are also very affectionate when not hard at work keeping voles out of the crops. A former horse corral near the barn has been repurposed into the primary farming space. Guests are welcome to use our dining space, porches, and outdoor areas. They are also welcome to be in the living room. There is an attractive parlor with a record player, chairs and a couch that we keep exclusively for guests if they want a private space to just hang out inside. We always love to provide recommendations to our favorite local spots. We are typically be on the property doing farm work so we are accessible if guests have questions or need anything. If for some reason we need to run to the store or leave the property we are easily accessible by phone, text or email. We offer hands-on experiences through Airbnb and our website (g (Website hidden by Airbnb) The area around the farm is mostly residential. However, we are only a few miles from Port Washington and Lake Michigan, as well as less than 15 minutes from Cedarburg. Additionally, we are 3.5 miles away from Lion's Den Nature Preserve along Lake Michigan. This 72 acre park has a mile of undeveloped shoreline along the lake and 100 foot bluffs with excellent bird watching, fishing, hiking and picknicking. We are about a 30 minute drive to downtown Milwaukee for guests that plan on visiting the city. As we are in the country, public transportation is limited, however there is a bike trail near the property (Ozaukee Interurban Trail) that runs from Grafton to Port Washington. This means that you can easily bike right to Lake Michigan from the property almost completely off road. For avid bikers the trail runs for almost 40 miles in total and connects several other towns including Mequon and Cedarburg. Farm experiences are available and can be tailored to the guests desires and booked with us directly. Examples might include learning to drive our restored Ford 1947 tractor or learning our soil restorative farming techniques. Dogs and cats do also enjoy our home from time to time.
