40-45 degrees+ at night is ideal. Lower temps may be too cold. Come relax at our tipis! Read the reviews…and book your stay! This campsite has poor cell reception and doesn’t have electric or running water. Camping at its finest! This is a beautiful, quiet, peaceful, yet primitive landscape filled with wildlife, insects, and many plant species. You will be staying in our large, traditional tipis. Read entire listing before contacting or reserving your stay. Quick update! We have added propane heaters in each tipi. I will supply the first 1 pound bottle for each heater (burn time is 3 hours on low). The heaters do not heat up the tipi. They just supply a way to get warm before bed or upon waking up in the morning. Depending on the weather you may or may not want to bring more propane or rent a bottle locally (we can help with pickup and return). Three miles Northwest of Jay, Oklahoma you will find a small backroad/trail that will lead you to a very beautiful, yet primitive campsite where you will find three large and traditional tipis. Each tipi is elevated on a composite deck (our decks do NOT have safety rails) keeping you and your belongings off of the ground. The tipis are furnished with comfortable bedding (extra pillows, blankets/sleeping bags , and sheets are available), a fire ring (wood is provided), and a private outhouse with a sawdust toilet (to help with cleanliness we encourage the men to practice there aim outside or be seated at all times). A community fire ring is also available along with a small play area and swing set. This is the perfect place to put the phone down, unwind, relax, and come closer with nature, family, and friends. You could fall asleep listening to the breeze quietly whistling through the trees and wake up to the songbirds singing on a calm, dewy morning. As with all camping trips preparation is key. Keep in mind that weather can change quickly and without proper preparation you could be caught off guard. You could be drifting in-and-out of sleep listening to the sounds of nature when all of a sudden you are awoken by the loud crack of thunder, strong winds, and rain. Although we have made our tipis as weatherproof as possible, they are not 100% weatherproof. Wind and precipitation may find its way inside. A special layer has been added to aid in keeping the tipi dry during inclement weather. Make sure to routinely check the weather before your stay and pack accordingly (we offer a 24-hr, prior to your stay, cancellation policy). Layers are important. There is also a small propane heater in each tipi for those cold days and nights (during the winter). As stated before, this campsite is primitive and is filled with wildlife and many plant species. These include, but are not limited to, spiders, snakes, mosquitos, chiggers, poison ivy, poison oak and much more. With trails and land to explore, proper clothing and footwear is essential. Other items we recommend are bug spray, sun screen lotion, a first aid kit and anything else you may need. Town is nearby if you need any extra supplies, but to be safe, make sure you bring plenty of food and water. You don't want to be the person cold and wet, tending to your bug bites, watching a family of raccoons fight over your last sandwich. For you that have made it this far, WELCOME, you are our people! We are excited to host your stay. If you like the outdoors and are ready for, what could be, the camp out of a lifetime then this is the place for you. Make sure you explore the land and have a great time. This campsite is very beautiful, quiet, secluded, and relaxing, but remember it is primitive (no electric or plumbing) and requires you to plan ahead. We welcome you, today is your day, you are off to a relaxing camp trip, we hope you enjoy your stay! Oh, and don't forget the s'mores... There is a locked gate at the entrance . Guests will be given the combination to let themselves in or we will meet you to let you in. We have family members that live within 2 miles of the property. We are happy to meet you or we will allow you privacy... just let us know. The front 20 acres of our property is used for the tipis. Please be aware tipis are open air structures. They are not bug proof or critter proof (although the only critter we have encounter inside is a lone mouse). We will be working on cutting trails for hiking, as time allows, during the spring and summer of 2021. Our family has spent the last 6 months testing the tipis. There are critters, bugs, and a ton of fun every time we stay with our 13, 10, and 4 year old and now we are ready to let other families make memories here too. Please note, decks do not have railings so young children MUST be supervised closely. You must drive about 150 yards into the property on a dirt road. There are some bumps along the way. Please park at the designated parking spots to minimize traffic driving through the heart of the tipis. A wagon is provided to help tote coolers and such. We will provide Toilet paper and trash cans in the outhouses. Hand washing stations are set up at each tipi along with hand soap and 1 roll of paper towels (you may want to bring additional ones). Outside games are provided. These can be taken to the common area and shared. Each tipi has a small tub of games for indoor or rainy times throughout your stay. Plenty of fire wood is provided. ***NO fires can be built inside the tipis*** There is a solar charging pack that is left in Tipi #3. This can be used to charge phones. Power a small TV (not provided) and run a tower fan. The solar generator can be left outside during the day to charge and for all to share. Whatever fits your groups needs. Each tipi will have a private outhouse, seating, a picnic table, small propane griddle and fire pit area, grilling utensils, bedding, percolator (coffee pot for a camp fire) and hand washing station. ***5 gallons of extra water*** The Gathering Area has 3 porch swings (rated for 600 pounds max) and 4 hammock chairs (rated for 200 pounds max). There are 10 additional outdoor chairs provided. We suggest you bring: Drinking water BUG spray Sun Screen Proper shoes for rocky/outdoor terrain Easy Camping Meals Appropriate Clothing Pull ups for children that might wet the bed Other Optional items to bring: **Camping shower*we will provide 5 gallons of extra water per tipi*
